HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT SUCCESS COACH

DESCRIPTION

Student Success Coaches work under the direction of the School Principal, Vice Principal, Director of Guidance (or their designee) to support student success and wellness throughout school hallways, cafeteria and other non-classroom spaces students use during the school day.

Student Success Coaches work collaboratively with other school staff to ensure that Everett High School is a safe, supportive and inclusive space for all members of our community as they transition between instructional classes, lunch and other activities.

Rather than employing punitive measures, Student Success Coaches understand the importance of safe and supportive school culture, and possess an infectious enthusiasm to support every high school student maximizing their potential while utilizing a positive and supportive framework.

Student Success Coaches understand the importance of relationships in helping students achieve their goals and will act as role models for students throughout the school.

Student Success Coaches will observe students during transitions, lunches and other unstructured settings, making themselves available to students who may be experiencing difficulties, and providing concrete support to address student needs.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • High School diploma, equivalent or higher.
  • Experience living / working in multicultural settings / communities.
  • Experience with the common needs of students attending school in an urban setting.
  • EPS respects and values linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak additional languages bring value to district culture and diversity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

  • Success Coaches will communicate regularly and effectively with students, building staff, and members of the community to support students' success goals at EHS.
  • Success Coaches have a demonstrated ability to understand and respond appropriately to students' needs throughout the school-day.
  • Success Coaches exhibit strong judgement and decision-making skills when working with school-age children, supporting their healthy and positive decision-making.
  • Success Coaches believe in the value of education, and work with all the students they encounter to define educational success at Everett High School.
  • Success Coaches actively develop and maintain positive, appropriate and supportive relationships with students to be better able to support students during times of difficulty or challenge.
  • Success Coaches may be asked to respond to students who need space and support away from the learning environment. Success Coaches will be effective at deescalating students using developed skills like co-regulation or TCIS principals.
  • Success Coaches will be expected to take advantage of personal growth and professional development opportunities to support student success and development including, but not limited to, Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) or Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Support (TCIS).
  • Success Coaches believe in the Everett Public Schools' values of equity, justice and inclusion.
  • Success Coaches are ready to be active throughout a large, urban high school all day, and will be able to stand, walk and be on their feet for several hours at a time.

WORKING TIME :

The Student Success Coach is a 12 month, full time position. Applicants for this position must commit to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and weekends based on school, family and district needs.

SALARY :

Commensurate with experience and education..
