Job Description Summary
The Kern County Student Assistant will provide administrative support across all departments of the Kern County Campus of the University of La Verne.
Must be student of the University of La Verne with Federal Work Study. This entry level position provides an introduction to different areas of the campus programs such as Undergraduate, graduate and credentialing programs.
This position plays a critical role in covering the front desk area of the office and serves as the first point of contact for faculty, students, vendors, community partners and other guests.
Specific Duties
- Covers the front desk area for the office. This includes :
- greeting visitors and directing them to the appropriate staff member for assistance
- answering phone calls that come through to the front office phone
- taking and delivering messages
- opening, sorting, and distributing mail / deliveries.
- Supports the campus programs with calling students and faculty for dissemination of information and attendance to campus activities.
- Assist advisors in contacting students for follow up and dissemination of information via phone or email
- Help in sorting and organizing the student files.
- Other duties as assigned by the director. Student Assistants frequently help with a variety of activities and projects hosted by the Kern County Campus.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in a professional, customer-focused environment.
- Working experience with Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to : Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Current University of La Verne student

Benefits Summary
Employees are eligible for the following benefits :
One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.
University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan - can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.
In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.
Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
