The engineer will act as a manager, aiding in the creation and implementation of prototype devices, as well as handling tasks such as data collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation within the Orthopedics Innovations and Translational Lab.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conducting hard tissue processing, mechanical testing, imaging, image processing and analysis, computing, data processing, and 3D printing.
  • Nikon Scanning brightfield and fluorochome Imaging.
  • Matlab Image Processing and Analysis, Computing, Data processing.
  • 3D Image analysis, SLT file conversion from DICOM images.
  • Perform autonomous tasks in designing, manufacturing, and testing prototype devices.
  • Solidworks design.
  • Independent design, manufacturing, and testing of prototype devices.
  • Collect and analyze data.
  • Manage, inventory, and organize samples and data.
  • Train others for data acquisition using laboratory devices and software.
  • Supervise and mentor learners and trainees in the laboratory.
  • Maintain laboratory safety requirements.
  • Ensures proper care in the use of, and maintenance of, equipment and supplies.
  • Aid in routine laboratory purchases.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Capable of working autonomously without direct supervision.
  • Able to work independently without direct supervision
  • Ability to flex hours during time of deadlines.
  • Experience with Lab Equipment including : Hard Tissue Processing, Mechanical testing.
  • A minimum two (2) of years’ experience in computer programming (C++, SAS, SPSS, Matlab).Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Capable of working autonomously without direct supervision.
  • Able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Ability to flex hours during time of deadlines.
  • Experience with Lab Equipment including : Hard Tissue Processing, Mechanical testing.
