Position Overview :
The primary focus of this role will be to perform traffic engineering design for our diverse clientele which includes FDOT, ODOT, KYTC and various other jurisdictions.
Primary Responsibilities :
Traffic Studies :
- Perform Crash analysis and safety studies.
- Perform Corridor and intersection analysis.
- Develop traffic signal timing and phasing.
- Conduct traffic signal warrant studies and roundabout analysis.
- Perform capacity analysis and congestion mitigation.
- Perform queueing analysis.
- Assist with developer plan review and traffic impact analysis review.
- Develop maintenance of traffic alternatives analysis.
- Perform computer software modeling and simulation.
- Prepare Traffic Engineering Reports.
Traffic Design :
- Conduct traffic control device inventory and design.
- Design work zone traffic control.
- Assist with development of improvement concepts.
- Develop project deliverables including plans, specifications and cost estimates.
Minimum Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required. Master's degree preferred.
- EIT certification is required. PE licensure or PTOE certification are preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in traffic engineering in a professional setting.
- Experience working with MicroStation and / or AutoCAD.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently.
- Ability to analyze complex traffic issues and alternates and prepare cogent recommendations.
- Experience in the design of traffic control devices including signing, pavement markings, traffic signals and temporary traffic control devices.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, Highway Safety Manual and ADA regulations.
- Strong oral and technical writing skills preferred.
- Proficiency in the use of traffic modeling including
Synchro / SimTraffic, CORSIM, and HCS preferred.
