Job Description
The Technology and Innovation Division at the Utah Department of Corrections is seeking a self-motivated individual to fill a Senior Business Analyst position.
Senior Business Analysts typically perform activities that may include : the utilization of computer software programs to store data, retrieve stored data, analyze retrieved data, and arrange results in a format that effectively supports the organization's production activities.
Principal Duties :
- Become familiar with the technology needs of the division and lead the team to provide those needed services.
- Maintain database code tables as requested by internal and external stakeholders.
- Become familiar with common data issues that arise in the database and learn how to troubleshoot and resolve them.
- Suggest ways to improve the quality, availability, accuracy, and consistency of the data, and facilitate and monitor the improvements.
- Participate in the application development process to improve the quality, availability, accuracy, and consistency of data gathered.
- Anticipate the impact that new or modified software will have on existing data standards and data systems. Identify problems or potential problem areas and recommend solutions.
- Reduce data ambiguity in projects by clarifying data requirements and protecting data quality.
- Identify, develop, and deliver training to system users.
Ideal Candidate :
- Ability to communicate effectively with the Department of Technology Services regarding application requirements.
- Aptitude to problem solve and make decisions by using critical thinking skills to pinpoint errors.
- Ability to extract knowledge at the user level, and send release communication to staff updating them on changes, issues, and updates.
Share and distribute division goals and intentions to administration and staff via reports, documents, and other written material.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing skills.
- Strong inherent leadership abilities.
- Analytical skills to interpret staff's business needs to translate into application and operational requirements.
Note : This position may be underfilled with a Business Analyst.
