We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor - Physical Therapy.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for all daily operations concerning physical therapy. Provides ongoing supervision of all direct patient care PT staff.
Responsible for keeping the Director of Clinical Services informed of all relevant updates both clinically and operationally.
Assists Director of Clinical Services in carrying out long term strategic goals / plans of OIOC and enforcing all LOH and NYU clinical policies, rules and regulations with OIOC.

- Participates in clinical education of fieldwork students and other professional educational endeavors. Teaches and supervises assigned students in the appropriate techniques, skills and procedures.
- Completes all required documentation for patient care and reimbursement. Completes and plans all required documentation in medical chart as required by department guidelines and JACHO requirements.
Accurately records all treatment given including completion of the daily treatment record.
Implements treatment plans and protocol according to current professional and health system standards. Establishes achievable and appropriate treatment goals with PATIENT AND FAMILY.
Considers a variety of validated treatment approaches and rationales for achievement of patient goals. Selects appropriate technical aids / assistive devices and correctly refers patients to other clinical services to achieve stated program / team treatment goals.
Assesses educational needs of patient, families, and implements a variety of methods for patient / family education and training during rehabilitation process.
Initial assessment and evaluation of physical therapy needs for patients. Reviews medical chart to ascertain important medical information and clarifies treatment orders if necessary.
Selects appropriate assessment tools and methods in order to accurately determine the patients status for developing optimal treatment plan.
Demonstrates effective clinical decision making and implements changes / adaptations to the treatment plan when appropriate.
- Conducts continuing educational programs and lectures for the staff, community, industry and other health care professionals.
- Involvement in clinical research activities in collaboration with the OIOC research team.
- Exhibits ancillary clinical leadership in regards to other department initiatives including student program, department research and representation of necessary leadership in the absence of the Director of Clinical Services.
- Exhibits a high level of initiation in regards to program development and performance improvement projects for the clinical unit.
- Displays and exhibits appropriate levels of positive communication in regards to staff and colleagues in order to reinforce individual growth among staff and colleagues.
- Regulatory Compliance / Quality Assurance Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations for PT clinical services and National Patient Safety Goals.
Assists in maintaining compliance in all regulatory requirements including JCAHO and DOH.
Staff Productivity / Operating Budget. Assists in the control of the hospital costs by seeking the most effective and efficient mechanisms of performing functions.
Works with the Director and the Director of Clinical Services regarding optimal staff utilization in conjunction with Hospital LPC processes.
Monitors accuracy of charge entries and oversees appropriate use of support staff for ancillary duties.
- Produces the necessary quantitative data as directed and performs effective, objective and detailed analysis to assist management team in decision making.
- Provide annual outpatient revenue projections and implement a plan to meet this goal. Implement appropriate corrective action for unachieved goals.
- Assist in developing and implementing new clinical policies and procedures related to compliance changes or organizational- program changes.
- Trains PT staff in the clinical model and provides ongoing career development opportunities and education.
- Regulatory Compliance / Quality Assurance- Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations for clinical services and National Patient Safety Goals.
- Recruits and retains qualified PT staff in conjunction with the Director of Clinical Services.
- Plans, develops, organizes and monitors all interdisciplinary clinical activities in conjunction with the Director of Clinical Services and Research and manages the daily activities of the staff.
Minimum Qualifications :
Masters Degree and five (5) years of progressive clinical experience in physical or occupational therapy including one (1) year in supervision or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current New York State Physical Therapy License and registration required..
Required Licenses : Physical Therapist License-NYS
Preferred Qualifications :
Membership in professional organization. Advanced degree in professional area or health management. APTA Board Certification in Orthopedics.
