Regional Controller
Buckingham Search is working with a multi-brand operator, who is currently searching for a Regional Controller to join their exceptional team.

Overview
This role oversees all accounting and finance functions for local assets and brands, including recently acquired companies.
Responsibilities include ensuring timely month-end closes, accurate financial reporting, and tax compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting, Finance, and Audit
- Manage daily and monthly accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes and prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements.
- Work with operations to deliver crucial financial data for decision-making.
- Act as the main contact for annual audits with support from the Corporate Controller.
- Analyze financial performance to identify variances from budget targets and previous year results.
Management and Oversight
- Review and enhance current operational processes and implement new procedures.
- Become proficient in ERP and Point of Sale systems.
- Oversee the final review of bi-weekly payroll.
- Monitor and report on business performance indicators.
- Guide the budgeting process under the direction of the Corporate Controller.
- Recruit, train, and manage accounting staff for the brand.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and rules.
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls with the Corporate Controller.
- Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
Required :
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in general ledger management, GAAP accounting, monthly close processes, financial statement production, cash management, budgeting, tax filings, and team supervision.
- Experience in public accounting with progressive roles in a company, demonstrating increasing leadership responsibilities.
Preferred :
Experience in multi-unit retail and / or private-equity backed companies is a plus.
Skills and Competencies
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication abilities.
- Attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of Sage Intacct is a plus, but not required.
Other Requirements :
- Travel is expected to be less than 25%.
- Must be willing to go into the office 5 days a week in their Chicagoland office.
