Amazon’s Transportation Engineering Systems Team owns the configuration of each setting in Amazon’s Resource Planning systems.

These settings are used to provide the committed delivery date on the website order in the next 3 hours and get it tomorrow , and then used to plan and route every order such that we meet the commitment to our customers.

Every week 1000s of changes are made as we seek to grow the business and optimize our resources.

The Senior Program Manager (Sr. PM) for TESS will take charge of ensuring the highest quality standards are followed as the network changes are deployed by the organization.

The role requires the individual to build and drive strategy to safeguard the NA transportation network (protect against negative customer experience impact).

A critical aspect of this position is to zoom out of individual quality issues and ask how we can limit dependency on human factors for quality issues.

The person will possess a strong program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and will have a well-rounded technical background.

The Sr. PM must be able to thrive and succeed in an innovative environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.

This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in, and get the job done.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control processes and procedures to ensure the consistent quality of network change execution.
  • Define key metrics that impact the output metrics of DPMO (Defects per million opportunities).
  • Define quality goals for the organization and work backwards goals to build input goals / projects. Establish a roadmap to hit input goals as part of the annual planning exercise.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Develop key partnerships with program functions to understand and document pain points and root causes for quality misses.
  • Establish guidelines and standards for the development of new processes that help us build in quality and get it right the first time.
  • Architect a BIQ (Built in Quality) mentality and validation program. Lead and coordinate execution efforts between internal and external organizations focusing on quality improvements.
  • Continuously assess quality processes to identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and cost reduction.
  • Be a champion for quality in actions and culture.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience.
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements.
  • Experience owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical / IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.).
  • Experience working cross-functionally with tech and non-tech teams.
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements.
  • 2+ years of data analysis experience.
  • Experience leading process improvements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field.
  • 5+ years of owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of change management experience.
  • 5+ years of driving process improvements experience.
