The Cloud Ecosystem Security team is one of Microsoft's fastest growing businesses, with the mission to make the world safer and more productive for all.
The team protects Azure, Microsoft's cloud platform, builds security product offerings for customers across clouds, and contributes to the global ecosystem of defenders, researchers and security policy makers.
As the Principal Software Engineering Group Manager, you will create and lead an engineering team for a new security marketplace offering.
This exciting new product offering will help partners build on new security platform capabilities such as Security Copilot, extend capabilities of Microsoft’s existing security products (Defender, Sentinel and Purview across M365 and Azure), and offer organizations of all sizes a purpose-built, trustworthy one-stop marketplace that meets their security software needs.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned software development leader, with a track record of collaboration working across diverse and complex teams.
Deep customer empathy and the ability to translate individual customer needs into requirements for broad platform experiences is critical.
This leader will be an effective people manager who has experience building teams and a culture that exemplifies Microsoft’s core values and leadership principles.
Responsibilities
- Grow and lead a team of software engineers to make a delightful marketplace experience
- Drive the product strategy, vision, and execution for the team in collaboration with product management and other discipline leaders
- Lead team through design, architecture, and execution of core services at planet scale.
- Lead the definition of requirements, key performance indicator (KPIs), priorities and planning of engineering deliverables
- Coach team leaders and engineers within the team to be their best
- Actively shape and drive a flexible, diverse, and inclusive culture where everyone is enabled to be at their best.
Qualifications
Required / Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience designing, building and shipping large marketplaces or scale cloud services
Other Qualifications
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and / or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings : Microsoft Cloud Background Check :
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire / transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years people management experience.
- Prior experience in building security applications / services or extensive experience building online marketplaces and digital storefront experiences
- Experience building an engineering team from scratch in a large organization or startup
- Experience working across disciplines and teams with high collaboration
