Senior Legal Operations Systems Manager (Onsite role)

SUMMARY / JOB PURPOSE :

Exelixis is seeking a Senior Legal Operations Systems Manager to join the Legal Department, reporting to the Director of Legal Operations.

This individual will be an integral member of the Legal / Compliance / Government Affairs organizations ( Legal Department ) and will have the opportunity to operate independently in a dynamic environment with primary responsibility for the management of the critical technology and systems utilized by the Legal Department, including the Contracts Lifecycle Management System, Document Management System, Intellectual Property Docketing System, Legal Billing System and other tools utilized by the Legal Department.

This person will also serve as a critical resource for the entire Legal Department and will work collaboratively with Exelixis’ Information Technology team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Manages daily maintenance of Exelixis’ Legal Department technology systems as a product manager, in close collaboration with the Information Technology Team.
  • Provides technical and non-technical support for users of Exelixis’ Legal Department technology systems.
  • Develops and supports how-to documentation and ongoing internal and external training related to the Legal Department technology systems in coordination with the Director of Legal Operations.
  • Supports the continued enhancement of existing functionality of Exelixis’ Legal Department technology systems, including the successful implementation of new features and tools.
  • Leads and manages the Change Control Committee / Board process for the Contract Lifecycle Management system.
  • Supports the integration of Exelixis’ Legal Department technology systems with other Exelixis enterprise technology systems.
  • Assists with the management of external vendor relationships in support of Exelixis’ Legal technology systems.
  • Supports ad hoc projects within the Legal Department.
  • Stays knowledgeable of trends in the industry and brings best practices to the Legal Department.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS :

Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and nine (9) years of relevant experience; or
  • Master’s degree in related discipline and seven (7) years of relevant experience; or
  • PhD degree in a related discipline and two (2) years of relevant experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience :

  • Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a technology-focused role at a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Experience with legal operations.
  • Experience developing and implementing legal department technology solutions.
  • Experience supporting legal operations technology, including contracts lifecycle management systems, document management systems, intellectual property docketing systems, and legal billing systems.

Knowledge / Skills :

  • Robust proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to develop creative technical and / or business solutions for complex problems and implement organizational or team objectives.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with the ability to re-prioritize on short time frames.
  • Ability to interact comfortably with executives and senior management, using clear and concise verbal and written communication and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be efficient, detail-oriented, and have strong organizational skills.
  • Must have good judgment and act responsibly and conscientiously.
  • Works independently and in a team environment.
  • Dedicated to quality, reliability, and the highest professional standards in all work tasks.
  • Highly productive, with the ability to maintain focus on critical goals.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

Environment : primarily working indoors, performing clerical work.

COMPENSATION :

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets.

The base pay range for this position is $143,000 - $202,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate’s geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location.

The base pay offered will take into account the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.

In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers a comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts.

Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan.

Exelixis also offers employees the opportunity to purchase company stock, and receive long-term incentives, 15 accrued vacation days in their first year, 17 paid holidays including a company-wide winter shutdown in December, and up to 10 sick days throughout the calendar year.
