The Department of Biological Sciences at California State University San Marcos accepts applications on an on-going basis for our Wildfire Sciences pool of part-time lecturers.

Minimum qualifications :

• An associates degree in Fire Sciences
• Demonstrable professional experience in the subject matter of the class
• Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California.

Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Preferred qualifications :

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Sciences
• 5 or more years of professional experience in wildfire
• Minimum one semester of college level teaching experience
• Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and / or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience :

• Anticipated Hiring Salary Range : $2,146 per Weighted Teaching Unit (WTU)
• CSU Classification Salary Range : $2,146 per Weighted Teaching Unit (WTU)

Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring.

Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year.
