ENGINEER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plans and organizes project staff according to project requirements and schedules.
2. Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, machine design, detail
drawings and bills of material.
3. Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract
requirements, and related specifications.
4. Coordinates activities, with the Project Engineering Supervisor, as it relates to technical developments,
scheduling, and resolving engineering design problems.
5. Coordinates and interfaces with employees from all departments.
6. Develops and maintains engineering standards for the department.
7. Ensures completion of internal and customer machine design reviews.
8. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
9. Ensures the completion of risk assessments for all new machinery, ensuring that new equipment meets industry
safety standards.
10. Ensures completion of mechanical component of project operator manuals.
11. Assist sales as needed in the technical presentation of equipment and processes.
12. Supports service to solve and satisfy customer issues.
13. Utilizes good communication skills.
14. Follows all company policies and procedures
15. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
SUPERVISION
Directly supervises 4 to 10 employees in the Mechanical Engineering department that are assigned to projects. Carries out
supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include
interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding
and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
Requires Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering, 10 years Mechanical
Design experience, CAD and Engineering Analysis Software Experience, working knowledge of Engineering and
Drawing Standards and / or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret technical Engineering drawings and calculations. Ability to read and interpret documents
such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports.
Ability to speak effectively with company personnel, vendors and customers. Ability to effectively present information
and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Ability to express technical concepts.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and
solid geometry and trigonometry and engineering formulas. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages,
ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Able to perform mechanical engineering related calculations such as heat
transfer, stress / gear deflection and speed calculations.
REASONING ABILITY
Requires considerable initiative and ingenuity to analyze problems, determine causes and establish corrective actions
necessary. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only
limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
form.
TRAVEL
10-20% travel is required to support the sales and service efforts. Occasional weekend travel.
