Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Facilities, direct and manage all safety and security efforts related to the facilities and surrounding grounds.
Coordinate and supervise specific event-related life safety and security programs for the facilities.
Requirements

- Provide overall management for all services and activities involved in facility and event security, life safety, crowd management, facility admissions, and emergency preparedness.
- Plan and direct organizational safety / security programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.
Safety plans and procedures should comply with local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and be consistent with our organizational procedures that align with our Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) Facility Certification.
Create and facilitate Safety Training Programs for Gas South District employees and contracted partners working regularly on campus.
- Oversee, direct, and train Security Department personnel on the proper and efficient use of Genetec Access Control and Video Surveillance security management platforms.
- Provide direction addressing security and safety questions and concerns involving building evacuation and fire emergencies and develop plans for responses to these emergencies.
- In cooperation with organizational departments heads and security management team, direct property wide safety inspections including fire, occupational and environmental health, food safety, and chemical use.
Conduct regular and pre-event inspections of event spaces and all areas inside and outside facilities where event attendees will be present, including roadways, parking lots and decks, sidewalks, crosswalks, plazas, concourses, galleries, seating areas, meeting rooms, and exhibit halls with a focused eye toward risk mitigation and loss prevention.
- Create, Publish, and Maintain security procedures and protocols for all event and non-event day activities at Gas South District.
- Select, hire, train, motivate, and evaluate full and part time security personnel. Oversee the training and management of safety and security department employees to educate security personnel in emerging trends and best practices, correct deficiencies;
implement discipline as needed.
- Oversee scheduling of security department employees and ensure daily labor reports are correct and submitted in a timely manner.
- Direct all personnel and activities necessary to establish a safe, secure, and efficient environment. Develop and direct training programs in safety and security core disciplines for full-time and part-time employees to increase awareness of safety and security concerns, policies, and procedures.
Core disciplines include risk assessment, situational awareness, search action, access control management, video surveillance, incident investigation and proper report writing.
- Oversee and direct Security Department personnel on the monitoring and management of the fire panel and fire suppression system.
- Identify potential or existing security threats to the organization or threats specific to our scheduled events and present those risks to leadership for discussion, mitigation, or resolution.
- Assist Senior Leadership in the preparation of the security department operating budget and track budget allocation throughout the year, highlighting spending trends for budget projections and future year adjustments.
Make recommendations for capital investment and consideration of emerging security technology.
- Develop and implement facility security plans, working closely with local authorities.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with police, fire, EMS, and other security personnel and / or life safety organizations.
Schedule police, EMS and fire marshals for events and coordinate their event support roles and activities, as needed.
Train and direct department response to emergency situations; ensure security personnel carry out emergency response duties as assigned.
Ensure Emergency Response Plans are implemented and followed, communicate with emergency services personnel
responding to any emergency situation that may arise, both internally and externally, before, during, and after emergencies.
- Manage facility response to unusual circumstances caused by fire, storms, riots, and other emergencies.
- Justify and purchase supplies and equipment needed to maintain a safe and secure facility operation.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, event coordination meetings, and maintain harmonious working relationships with all facility departments and personnel.
- Key liaison with local businesses and the public safety sector regarding all security matters. Facilitate regular communication between other security personnel in the Sugarloaf area, Gwinnett County, and Atlanta Metro area.
- Rotate with other security personnel to function as Security Manager on Duty (SEC-MOD), who maintains responsibility and authority over all security department employees, and life safety personnel assigned to event support.
- Work extended and / or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Director of Facilities or General Manager.
Skills and Abilities
Position requires the ability to :
Demonstrate knowledge of principles and techniques of planning, implementing, and supervising an event facility security force.
Possess knowledge of safety and security issues related to a major sports and entertainment venue.
- Possess significant knowledge of fire and public safety regulations.
- Handle conflicts, make common sense decisions and exercise proper action during high tension and stressful situations.
- Possess and maintain Trained Crowd Manager Certification.
- Remain certified in CPR and other emergency / life-saving techniques.
- Meet the physical demands of the job, which include being able to get in and around the facility (requires personal mobility) and working from various heights.
Must perform strenuous physical duties at times, including lifting, carrying, moving, and climbing.
- Be able to withstand moderate to loud noises.
- Operate equipment such as light trucks, Golf carts and other utility vehicles, pallet jacks, carts, fire extinguishers or other light power-driven equipment.
- Operate a personal computer using Windows and Microsoft Office software.
- Operate portable radio and standard office equipment.
- Proficient in current utility software operating platforms including Genetec access management and video surveillance and content management and Luton Lighting Controls.
- Proficient in the operation and management of the Simplex Grinnell fire panel / campus fire monitoring and fire suppression system.
- Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
- Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Work effectively under pressure and / or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
- Work as a team member as well as independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, guests, employees, and others encountered in the course of employment.
- Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to legally operate a motor vehicle in the state of Georgia.
- Possess any appropriate licenses as required by the State.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and five years related experience and / or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Event Security and / or Crowd Management experience required. Police, Fire, and / or law enforcement background is beneficial.
Being able to communicate in Spanish is beneficial.
