The Registered Nurse utilizes best scientific evidence and compassion to assist the patient in navigating their health journey. The Registered Nurse accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures. Provides and documents patient care under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Nurse Manager / Nurse Manager.\n\nPatient Care : Acts with patient advocacy when implementing the interdisciplinary plan of care.\n

• Collaborates with healthcare team to educate patient and their support system.\n
• Analyzes, modifies, and implements strategies to progress the patient through their plan of care.\n
• Ensures completion of nursing interventions, medical orders, and other related therapies.\n
• Prioritizes job duties according to patients' needs and changing acuity levels.\n\nCommunication : Consistently utilizes appropriate communication tools when communicating within the interdisciplinary team and when handing off patient care.\n
• Communicates individualized plan of care to the patient and his / her chosen support system.\n
• Uses communication tools such as Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation, and Question (SBARQ) to communicate more effectively.\n
• Documents appropriate information in a timely manner.\n\nTeamwork : Develops and maintains positive relationships with team members / internal customers to provide efficient treatment of patients.\n
• Develops team members through mentoring, precepting, orientation, and providing feedback.\n
• Resolves conflicts independently, as appropriate.\n
• Accepts responsibility for actions and responds positively upon feedback from others.\n\nMedical Knowledge : Demonstrates medical skills to provide required patient care.\n
• Operates various equipment including portable cardiac monitors, bedside commodes, etc.\n
• Provides routine nursing care such as starting IVs, performing dressing changes, etc. for multiple patients in a timely manner.\n
• Assists in critical situations including administering CPR.\n
• Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers, and transports patients via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments.\n\nThe incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS\n\nEducation : Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree preferred.\n\nExperience : 1 year of relevant experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.\n\nLicensure : Current RN licensure in applicable state required. CPI certification within three months of hire required for Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, and Central Staffing and Scheduling Office (CSSO). If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.\n\nAdditional Skills / Requirements Required : Ability to perform basic nursing skills on groups of patients and ability to assume charge responsibility. Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly. Ability to administer medication utilizing the five rights. Ability to communicate verbally and in written form. Basic computer knowledge.
