Job Summary
The Morning Library Supervisor reports to the Assistant Director of Public Services and provides leadership for the Public Services department of the Library Services, including supervising part-time staff at the Public Services desk;
conducting hiring, training, and performance evaluations; overseeing as well as performing circulation duties, assisting with the Reserves Collection, and supporting operations of the Markosian Library café.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Morning Supervisor at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus is part of three-person Supervisor team at the Markosian Library.
Primary responsibilities will vary depending on need but will include :
- Responsible for maintaining or improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas within the Public Services Department
- Manages sales and overseeing cash handling procedures and reporting
- Generates branch statistics
- Manages Library Laptop Lending program
- Hires, supervise and train part time library staff
- Schedule staff members to ensure adequate coverage
- Checking library materials in and out
- Re-shelving items in their proper place
- Answering basic library information questions
- Approve staff timecards
- Resolve circulation issues
- Support annual collection inventory at the Markosian library
- Monitor and support building operations and cleanliness
- Works collaboratively with Afternoon and Evening Desk supervisors to ensure adequate coverage and overseeing of daily operations
- Communicates with colleagues between SLCC Library Services branches to ensure consistency in policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Serve as faculty contact for reserve material.
Support, update, and maintain Course Reserve operations at Redwood to ensure that records are accurate and up to date.
Minimum Qualifications Associates degree or two years college. Preferred Qualifications Two years working in a library setting.
Supervisory experience
Spanish speaking
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Customer service skills.
Works well with others.
Able to function in academic library environment.
In-depth knowledge of library computer systems.Experience in sales management and operations
Ability to train others in the use of library computer systems.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties Serve on library and campus-wide committees.
