Description :

The Department of Psychiatry and the Institute forJuvenile Research (IJR) at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) incollaboration with Department of Pediatrics at the University of IllinoisCollege of Medicine at Peoria (UICOM-P) is seeking to hire a PediatricPsychologist to provide health psychology services to children andfamilies in Gastroenterology and Developmental Pediatrics.

The positionwill be based in Chicago and will provide telehealth services to children andfamilies in Peoria through an agreement with the Department of Pediatrics(UICOM-P) and Children's Hospital of Illinois.

There will be an expectation toprovide in person clinical care 2 days a month at the Peoria campus.

IJR hosts a nationally recognized PsychologyClinical Internship Training Program, and the Department of Psychiatry is among the top ranked departments by NIH funding with activeportfolios in anxiety and mood disorders, psychosis, late life depression,digital mental health, addictions, mental health services, and women's mentalhealth.

Dating back to 1909, IJR is regarded as the home of American childpsychiatry and was founded to advance the care of youth in Chicago.

Itshistoric mission continues to the present day and is expanding under theleadership of Dr. Niranjan Karnik.

A primary teaching hospital of UICOMP is the Children'sHospital of Illinois at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center (CHOI), a tertiarycare facility serving a 37-county region with a population base of over twomillion.

CHOI provides comprehensive services to children, including Level IVNICU and a state-designated Pediatric Critical Care Center.

CHOI is a majormedical facility with 124 beds and a 32-bed critical care unit and the onlyLevel 1 trauma center in Illinois outside of Chicago.

The Pediatric Gastroenterology Division at UICOMP has 7pediatric gastroenterologists. There is a very strong track record of clinicalresearch within the GI group including pediatric functional and motilitydisorders.

The group works closely with the Division of DevelopmentalPediatrics which treats children with feeding and swallowing disorders.

TheDivision Head of Developmental Pediatrics is a nationally known expert inpediatric feeding disorders. Our clinical services focus on diverse andvulnerable patients, serving minority and economically underserved populationsin Central Illinois.

Qualifications :

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Psychology andhave completed a health psychology postdoctoral fellowship. Candidates mustpossess or be eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois.

This non-tenuretrack position will have a combination of clinical effort and protected timefor research. The selected candidate will have an academic appointment in theDepartment of Psychiatry at the Assistant / Associate Professor rank,commensurate with experience, and will have teaching and supervision responsibilitiesfor residents, psychology interns and other trainees.
