Overview
Oversees and develops all policies and programs related to the safety and security of all personnel, equipment and facilities. This position provides direction and guidance to supervisors and front-line staff, establishing and emphasizing a culture of safety and customer service. The role establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other transit departments, city departments, subordinates, and the general public to promote and maintain an effective and efficient public transit service. It involves administering and formulating safety policies, procedures, programs and practices, and coaching the performance of front-line supervisors, managers and administrative staff.
Responsibilities
- Work involves the provision of or arrangement for transit training in accordance with NCDOT and FTA requirements or regulations. Specific training responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Develop Operator Training programs and tracking system for driver performance and evaluations
- Develop and maintain Trainee and re-training schedules
- Coordinate and train all new operators, or provide remedial training when necessary
- Vehicle training including inspections, communications equipment, securement of child restraint devices, defensive driving
- The safe operation of a transit vehicle
- Securing wheelchairs and other assistive devices
- Completion of manifest and other required documentation
- Adult and infant CPR
- Emergency treatment plan
- Passenger relations
- Safety
- Anti-drug and alcohol misuse and random evaluation of driver performance and quality monitoring
- Reinforces operator performance expectations, coaches to improve skills, offers positive reinforcement for meeting or exceeding expectations
- Works closely with all staff members in order to improve overall transit system performance
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Salary : 45,000-50,000 per year
