Job Description
AHRC NYC is looking for a Per-Diem Speech Therapist to work with their Residential division in All Five Boroughs. This position has a pay rate of $75-$80 per hour.
The Speech Therapist is responsible for the assessment, planning, and provision of speech and language rehabilitation services to people supported and works with the person supported and residential team to provide training and / or assistive devices to eliminate or reduce areas of deficit.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluates speech and language functioning to determine speech therapy needs and develops rehabilitation plan in accordance with the Physician / Nurse Practitioner order.
- Re-evaluates a person’s speech and language functioning as needed. Adjusts treatment plan as necessary and in accordance with MD / NP order.
- Treats people with disabilities, disorders, and injuries related to speech and language functioning and requiring speech therapy, making use of therapeutic devices and other equipment to maintain or restore maximum performance of speech and language modalities.
- Completes required documentation paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
- Submission of Time Sheets and required documentation with each evaluation.
- Submission of Time Sheets and required documentation for treatment cases on at least a weekly basis.
- Interacts with people supported and staff in legal and ethical manner.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology from accredited program.
Minimum of one year Speech Therapy experience in health care setting
Intellectual Disability and Developmental Disability experience is highly desirable
Current license in New York State as a Speech and Language Pathologist.
Completion of OSHA and other requirements mandated by NYS DOH and OPWDD.
Strong effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proven capacity to work productively in highly collaborative settings and to coordinate the needs of multiple stakeholders.
Ability to respond to common inquiries from staff, families, regulatory agencies, or members of the medical community.
Flexibility to operate in a rapidly changing work environment, with the ability to adapt and be sensitive to organizational culture.
Committed and collegial team worker.
Strong commitment to the provision of quality clinical care for underserved people.
Bilingual language skills are highly desirable.
