Public Relations Coordinator
Position Summary
This position plans, develops, implements, and directs an effective and strategic communications, advertising, public relations, and external relations campaign for the College with a goal to increase public awareness and support for College programs, services, and activities while enhancing the image and reputation of the College's main campus and offsite locations.
Duties & Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develops and implements strategic communications, public relations, and branding / marketing campaigns that increase public awareness and support of College programs, services, and activities and enhance the College’s presence among key stakeholders.
- Directs the development and editing of various publications, including news releases, feature articles, news stories, postings, reports, and other communications, highlighting the goals, objectives, policies, programs, activities, and accomplishments within the College, its students, faculty, and staff.
This is for the purpose of dissemination to print and broadcast media sources, social media and web-based sources, the general public, and specialized target groups.
- Directs the development of internal newsletters, bulletins, social media and website postings, and related materials for employees concerning policy and organizational changes, special programs, staff / faculty achievements, awards, and news of general interest to employees.
- Evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of internal and external information, media relations, and external relations programs of the College;
obtains feedback from the public and internal personnel through surveys, public opinion studies, and / or focus group meetings.
- Builds and maintains relationships with media representatives to promote the College and respond to media inquiries.
- Manages communications during crises or emergencies to maintain the College’s reputation and provide clear and accurate information to stakeholders.
- Tracks and reports on the effectiveness of communications and PR strategies using relevant metrics and analytics.
- Manages the budget and procurement for communications and PR activities, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Engages with the community and fosters partnerships to enhance the College’s public presence and support.
- Provides oversight of and direction to staff within the unit.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL FACTORS
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and / or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
The worker sits most of the time.
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as : preparing and analyzing data and figures;
transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection.
The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations or a related field is required.
- At least three of responsible experience in Public Relations or a related field is required.
- At least ten years of responsible and progressive experience in Public Relations field, in lieu of education is required.
