Overview

The International Sales Department at HarperCollins Publishers is looking for an experienced Senior Marketing & Publicity Manager to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with HarperCollins’ overseas offices and customers around the world. Reporting to the Senior Director, International Sales, this person will oversee Marketing & Publicity of HarperCollins English-language titles (General Books, Childrens, and HQN) in all markets outside of the US.

Responsibilities

Build strong working relationships with M&P colleagues at our affiliate companies and distributors in Canada, UK, ANZ, India, and South Africa.

Work closely with international sales reps and accounts in the Open Market to develop marketing campaigns, promotions, and merchandising.

Maintain internal relationships with US marketing and publicity leadership, and build relationships with marketing and publicity depts.

Work with US marketing and publicity teams to extend the reach of US campaigns.

Work with International Sales Directors / reps to designate seasonal focus titles for marketing and publicity campaigns and clearly communicate these priorities to US teams.

Maximize opportunities with authors travelling or living outside of the US, or with large international followings.

Take lead on M&P campaigns for big celeb / franchise authors

Oversee the creation of London / Frankfurt Book Fair catalogs and other advertising and promo materials.

Create strategy and analyze effectiveness for international online advertising and promo, including social media and newsletter program.

Coordinate annual bookseller events in select markets, including the creation of a comprehensive presentation and catalog.

Review and improve systems for distribution of information, materials, and request solicits for efficiency.

Work with HarperCollins Retail Marketing and Digital Marketing teams to extend relevant initiatives and best practices to International M&P.

Manage International Marketing budget.

Oversee two direct reports on Intl M&P team.

Qualifications

5+ years of publishing experience in a sales, marketing, or publicity capacity

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated

Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills

Able to work well under pressure and capable of managing several projects simultaneously

Demonstrates a creative, innovative and resourceful approach to problem-solving

Able to travel 1-2 times per year

Must possess a strong working knowledge of MS Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and databases.

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.

As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates.

The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
