The Department of Art & Design at Suffolk University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track instructor of Interior Architecture and Design with a start date of July 1, 2024.

The successful candidate will teach courses in both our BFA and MA degree programs. We are seeking a curious, engaged, and motivated studio instructor.

Candidates should be versatile and possess the creative energy to integrate design into Suffolk’s broader academic discourse.

It is therefore desirable that the candidate has a global perspective and an understanding of the complex issues shaping our built environment.

Regular teaching responsibilities include a total of seven courses per academic year with a 3 / 4 or 4 / 3 course load, depending on departmental need.

Full-time Non-tenure track faculty are also expected to engage in service activities including advising students in the program, participating in academic advising, participating in undergraduate student portfolio and thesis reviews, maintaining the Department’s materials inventory, maintaining the Department’s recruiting materials, participation in orientation and Open House events, and active participation in the larger Suffolk community.

Prior teaching and mentoring experience are critical, and evidence of teaching excellence with both undergraduate and graduate students is preferred.

The successful candidate will play an integral role in promoting sustainable and inclusive design methodologies across campus and beyond.

The Art & DesignDepartment at Suffolk University offers programs in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, and Interior Design / Architecture.

A terminal degree or professional equivalency in a related field is required.
