Job Duties / Scope Of Work

This position provides comprehensive support to the Site Wide Safety Standards (SWSS) organization by managing and facilitating SWSS committees (Lockout / Tagout, Electrical Safety Program, Confined Space Program, Excavation-Trenching-Shoring Procedure, Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program, Respiratory Protection Program, Fall Protection Program).

Reporting directly to the SWSS Manager, the candidate works closely with the organization's Facilitators, Operations Support Specialists, Technical Writer / Editor, and SWSS committees to develop, maintain, and implement site-wide safety standards, adhering to the Hanford Site Wide Safety Standards Management Plan (HMIS-PLN-SP-41080). The committees include representatives from Hanford prime contractors, bargaining units, and the Department of Energy (DOE). The HMIS SWSS organization is responsible for executing this work scope by working with the other Hanford prime contractors and bargaining units to collaboratively develop the site-wide standards, produce integrated implementation schedules, and support the ongoing committees that maintain the standards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for multiple job duties including, but not limited to :

  • Facilitating consensus-building and Committee processes in accordance with HMIS-PLN-SP-41080, committee Ground Rules, and requirements set forth in each of the committee charters.
  • Facilitating document review and comment resolution cycles to support the development and maintenance of site-wide standards.
  • Collaborating with SWSS committees, contractor health and safety leadership, and DOE to develop, approve, and implement site-wide standards.
  • Coordinating committee meetings with Chairs / Co-Chairs and ensuring adherence to ground rules and committee charters.
  • Coordinating to identify issues that may impact cost, training, or schedule during implementation.
  • Developing integrated implementation plans and schedules with Committees.
  • Mentoring the Committee Chair and Co-Chair.
  • Leading committees in developing, maintaining, and resolving issues related to their standard (program or procedure).
  • Facilitating conflict resolution by identifying issues and potential resolutions, acting as an independent third party to resolve conflicts, and notifying the SWSS Manager if an impasse is reached.
  • Applying creative techniques to resolve disputes, maintain focus, and ensure effective collaboration within the committees.
  • Assisting Chairs in preparing agendas and documentation for distribution.
  • Documenting meetings and reviewing draft meeting summaries, action items, and "parking lot" lists.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of experience or equivalent combination of education experience.
  • Experience in dispute resolution / conflict management, facilitation, and working with safety standards.
  • Experience in developing and implementing programs, preferably with a focus on safety.
  • Proven ability in facilitating large and diverse groups, particularly in crafting complex and technical programs and procedures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the consensus decision-making process, including experience in facilitating group discussions, building agreement among diverse stakeholders, and implementing consensus-driven solutions.
  • Must be able to proficiently use Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Proficient use of basic computer applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge.
  • Desired Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in dispute resolution / conflict management, facilitation, and working with safety standards.
