MATERIAL HANDLER I - 3RD SHIFT (395)

SUMMARY

Demonstrated ability through certification to work in at least one (1) of the following four (4) areas :

• RSL OF Dock Utility : Prepares items for shipment of customer orders and loads trucks for shipment.
• RSL OF LTL function : Prepares domestic and international shipments for customers.
• RSL OF Stocking : Receives, moves and stores finished product, material, and supplies; compiles stock / inventory records in warehouse.
• BLM (391 OR 395) Receiving Warehouse : Unloads and receives shipments; transports product to manufacturing, and prepares outbound freight shipments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

PERFORMANCE ABILITY

Certification in at least one (1) of the following five (5) areas : (1) RSL Order Fulfillment Dock Utility; (2) RSL Order Fulfillment LTL function; (3) RSL Order Fulfillment Stocking; (4) 391 BLM Receiving Warehouse; (5) 395 BLM Receiving Warehouse.

Demonstrated ability to consistently meet quality, safety and efficiency goals. Good problem solving skills required. Ability to work independently; prioritize and calmly handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment; demonstrate a strong sense of urgency; and flexibility to change tasks frequently and work in different work centers as business needs require. Strong teamwork skills; ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with others; strong attention to detail skills; and demonstrated high quality of work. Consistently follows all company policies and procedures, including all safety policies and procedures. Safely operates all Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and equipment.

Ability to communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to accurately complete paperwork. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Good problem solving ability.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.

When working at either Bloomingdale manufacturing facility, the employee is frequently exposed to herbal aromas, dust, and / or airborne particles, some classified as allergens or irritants. This position works in all areas of NOW’s manufacturing facilities with direct exposure to ingredients (powders and liquids), mixes (powders and liquids), equipment, and packaging. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud, and in some areas where louder hearing protection is required.
