The Safety Coordinator is a key leader in fostering a proactive, safety-first culture at the Krier Foods Random Lake facility. This hands-on role oversees all aspects of plant safety and SDS compliance, driving continuous improvement and ensuring our team operates in a safe, well-regulated environment.
In close partnership with shift supervisors, department managers, the Director of Human Resources, and the Senior Director of Operations, the Safety Coordinator develops, updates, and enforces safety procedures while championing new initiatives that go beyond compliance.
Responsibilities include :
- Complies with and enforces all company policies and plant rules and procedures, to include Safety, Quality, GMPs, and SSOPs.
- Manage the overall safety program to ensure a safe work environment is maintained and policies and procedures are known and understood by all employees.
- Assist the Department and Plant management with policy development, training, and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
- Develop and drive initiatives in relation to plant safety goals and reduction of hazards via continuous improvement to better achieve overall plant goals.
- Regularly inspect plant and conduct safety audits / contacts on personnel, equipment, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance and keep the company current with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Analyze incident reports and evaluate injury cases based on available facts.
- Lead injury and incident inquiries and investigations.
- Evaluate job hazards and develop control measures.
- Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees and vendors.
- Lead a monthly employee involvement group that would include regular meetings and maintain a database on employee contributions.
Requirements :
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Management, or a related field (preferred).2+ years of experience in a safety, compliance, role, ideally in a manufacturing or food / beverage production environment.Experience with OSHA regulations, SDS management, and plant safety programs.Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMPs) a plus.Certifications (Preferred but not required) : OSHA 10 or 30 Hour Certification, First Aid / CPR Certification.Technical Skills :
Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and state / local safety regulations.Experience managing and maintaining SDS databases.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); safety management software experience is a plus.Ability to conduct audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations.Krier Foods is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes applications from diverse candidates.
