Grants Manager

This position is responsible for :

Plans, develops, and manages the Grant Department within the Development Department. The Grants Manager is a part of the Resource Development team for the Metro Atlanta Area Command with specific responsibilities in oversight and / or coordination of funding particularly from private and public institutions for units within the command. This individual will also give oversight and / or coordination and preparation of proposals for all requests for private foundation and public funding appropriate to The Salvation Army, seeking out new funding opportunities for Army programs around the Command.

Key responsibilities :

  • Develop a comprehensive grants development plan under the direction of the Director of Program Services in which the needs of the various communities for funding support are prioritized and placed on a timeline.
  • Oversee grant funding required by units within the Area Command based on the above plan; Assist appropriate officer or staff personnel in the development of grant funding.
  • Conducts grant research in developing funding prospects for the command. In addition, assist local Area Command units with research for funding grants, trends and other information pertinent to the work of The Salvation Army.
  • Research public funding opportunities, as well as appropriate private foundations, for Salvation Army programs. Develop local unit or Command wide proposals. Work with appropriate Development, Program Services, Management services and local unit staff to prepare, write, coordinate and submit grants proposals.
  • Oversee and manage the grants that result from the developed proposals for funding appropriate programs; Develop relationships on behalf of The Salvation Army with appropriate state and private funding agencies.

Physical requirements and working conditions :

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to travel to various locations in order to participate in public meetings, conferences, etc. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs) 5-10% of work time. Work may be performed in an office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like but not limited to the office environment.

  • What we are looking for in you :

    Education and experience : Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, and a minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience demonstrating a record of accomplishment in grant writing with a knowledge of city, state, federal structure and funding requirements, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
