POSITION INFORMATION : This is a full-time, 9-month, unclassified, tenure-track position. The appointment begins in August .

SALARY : Commensurate with experience.
REPORTING AUTHORITY : Department Head

Position Duties / Responsibilities
The Assistant Professor, a faculty member in the Undergraduate Nursing Degree Program, has responsibilities that include but are not limited to : administration, teaching, university / community service, and research / scholarly work.
- Specific duties include : implementing University and College policies and procedures; implementing the program curricula;
- participating in curriculum and course planning, implementation, and evaluation; student advisement; mentoring; assisting in evaluating clinical settings and experiences related to the course and student learning needs;
- planning clinical experiences for students and evaluating the clinical competence of students; serves on University and College of Nursing committees;
- participates in the community by offering volunteer services and / or offering consultation and / or in-service education to clinical agencies or community agencies / organizations;
and initiates and / or participates in nursing research activities.
Required / Preferred Qualifications
Required :
- Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Nursing are required.
- Academic preparation includes degree specialization, specialty coursework, or other preparation sufficient to address the qualifications.
- At least two years of clinical practice are required in the nursing field of expertise and current, unencumbered licensure in the state of Louisiana.
Desired :
- Doctorate in Nursing or related field preferred.
