This job works under general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperation of slope mowing tractor.

Service once a week, greasing all moving parts on the tractor.Sharpen blades.Check engine oil every day, lights and hoses on the tractor.

Also when the tractor is in the shop (Fleet), operate a tractor-trailer truck, dump truck, excavating machine, shaker, batwing, side mount, bush hog, and handheld tools.

  • Operates and hauls heavy equipment which may include mowers, lowboys, front end loaders, trucks with trailers dump trucks, skid steers, zero-turn mowers;
  • performs pre-trip inspections on vehicles and equipment to ensure safe operating conditions.Keeps accurate records of daily work performed and supplies used to complete the work;
  • fills out timesheet daily, recording hours worked and chemicals used; completes work orders as assigned; operates hand and power tools;

performs routine maintenance and inspections of related equipment.May work with a crew or independently.Performs related work as assigned.

Education, Experience, LicensingRequires any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School graduation or GED equivalent and three years heavy equipment operation including operating, transporting, and maintenance of equipment, or closely related experience.

Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with no air brakes restriction and an acceptable driving record is required.

This is a Safety-Sensitive position subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing as provided in DOT regulation 49 CFR-Parts 40 and / or 382.

Certification in Traffic Safety in the Work Zone or the ability to obtain it is required.Supplemental InformationPrefer landscape experience.

Possess the ability to pick up, push, pull, and move objects of 70 pounds or more.Possess the ability to work outside in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.

The skill of operating heavy-duty earth-moving equipment.Knowledge of safe driving techniques and the occupational hazards of motorized equipment.

Knowledge of basic operation of micro-computers.Ability to detect malfunctions in heavy construction equipment.Ability to make adjustments and to perform minor maintenance to heavy equipment and components.

Ability to perform earthwork according to engineering specifications.Ability to read and adjust various gauges.Skill in the operation of large earth-moving equipment.

Good communication skills.The workdays and hours for this position are Tuesday - Friday 7 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 30 p.m.May be required to demonstrate your skills and abilities to operate the equipment.
