Construction Estimator

Asphalt Pavement, Sealcoating, Concrete, Landscaping, Winter Services, and Property Maintenance

We’re looking for a Construction Estimator with strong attention to detail and a passion for precision who can help us build accurate, competitive proposals and maintain our reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and site conditions to produce detailed takeoffs and cost breakdowns.
  • Prepare estimates that include the materials details and labor cost budgeted for paving, sealcoating, concrete, landscaping, winter services, and property maintenance projects.
  • Develop bids and proposals for asphalt paving, sealcoating, concrete work, and site improvement projects.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitive pricing and scope alignment.
  • Support, communicate, and work as a valued team player with our sales, operations, accounting, and leadership teams.
  • Work closely with clients, project managers, and engineers to clarify project details and ensure estimates reflect scope.
  • Monitor and analyze cost data to maintain accurate pricing databases.
  • Conduct occasional site visits for scope verification and progress review.
  • Stay current on material costs, labor rates, and industry best practices for paving and exterior construction.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience estimating asphalt paving, sealcoating, concrete, landscaping, winter services, or related civil / site work.
  • Working knowledge of material pricing, production rates, and local permitting and building codes.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with estimating software or spreadsheet-based estimating tools (e.g., Excel, VU-360, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, or similar).
  • Valid Ohio Drivers License
  • Ability to be added to insurance policies to operate company vehicles.

    • Education and Experience - Preferred but not required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in estimating or project management within construction, paving, sealcoating, concrete, landscaping, winter services, or site services.
  • Industry certifications in construction, estimating, or project management are a plus.
