JOBSUMMARY

This OperatingCompany (OpCo) based position will lead the implementation ofprevention-focused health, safety and environmental (HSE) andsecurity program.

The position will establish, execute and deliverOpCo-specific strategy that supports Sysco's overall HSEobjectives, including security and crisis preparednessobjectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Incooperation with Operational management, develop health, safety andenvironmental (HSE) strategy in support of Corporate HSE andSecurity strategic goals.
  • Develop effective HSEplans designed to meet operational goals to reduce injuries,accidents, and incidents.
  • Effectivelycommunicate HSE strategy and objectives with SeniorLeadership.
  • Support site management in theimplementation of HSE plans.
  • Design andimplement effective metrics to track progress, proactively identifyareas of concern and driveaccountability.
  • Develop and implement trainingprograms to transfer HSE knowledge and core competencies tomanagement and associates.
  • Establish andachieve audits to track and identify gaps in the local compliancewith Sysco's (HSE) policies andprocedures.
  • Support creation of health, safetyand environmental (HSE) goals for the site management andappropriate activity-based goals for the leadership team,functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive HSEculture, compliance and results.
  • Head acompany-wide system to identify and evaluate hazards (risks), andimplement effective controls (correctivesolutions).
  • Lead incident investigationprocess, including cause analysis and identification of correctiveaction plans.
  • Provide supervisor and managementtraining on root cause analysis.
  • Interface withregulatory bodies (OSHA, DOT, EPA, and State / LocalRegulators).
  • Facilitate the completion of acompany-wide annual HSE training plan.
  • Developeffective interdepartmentalrelationships.
  • Assist facilities managementteam in ensuring required regulatory permits are acquired, requiredreports are submitted to regulatory agencies and any site permitconditions (e.

g. recordkeeping, process safety management (PSM),stormwater, special waste, etc.) aremet.

  • Achieve annual targets for incidentfrequency, severity and costreductions.
  • Display strong problem solving,organizational and analyticalskills.
  • Demonstrate professional maturity andability to act as a change leader.
  • Create andfacilitate health, safety, and environmental (HSE) engagementthrough HSE teams and committees needed to accomplish theestablished targets and annualobjectives.
  • Drive and promote zero-incident HSEculture throughout the company.
  • Supportexecution of Sysco's Emergency Preparedness Plan procedures andpolicies.
  • Monitor, interpret and communicateregulatory changes to Operating Company (OpCo)management.
  • Assist with the development andpresentation of Corporate and site-specific training programs asneeded.
  • Implement early return to workprograms.
  • Performs management functions ofstaff selection, development, discipline, performance reviewsand / or terminations.
  • Interprets trains andconsistently enforces Company policies andprocedures.
  • Maintains associate relationsthrough regular department meetings.
  • Maintainson-going interaction and open communication with associates,monitors associate morale, and responds to and implements ideas toimprove associate engagement andenablement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor's degree orcertifications with equivalentexperience.

Experience

  • 5-7years of hands-on environmental and safety experience in awarehousing / distribution, manufacturing, or transportationoperation.
  • Considerable experience withoccupational safety, transportation safety, and environmentalcompliancepreferred.

Certificates,Licenses, andRegistrations

  • Has attainedor is working toward certification in safety(CSP).
  • Other pertinent safety certifications ordesignations are desirable as well.
  • Mustpossess a valid Driver's License and provide proof of liabilitycoverage meeting companystandards.

PhysicalDemands
