Sr. Software Dev Engineer, Multi-Device Experience

Alexa Context and Targeting team is part of the Alexa Multi-Devices experience Org. The Context team provides the most relevant context to the clients to take the right actions for our customers.

Targeting team uses heuristics to ensure Alexa is responding and acting from the right device for our customers who have multiple Alexa devices.

Our Context solution is core for enabling all Alexa experiences. Our targeting solution is core to all of Alexa Multi-device experiences.

We are on the lookout for a creative, deeply technical and customer-obsessed Sr. SDE to partner with us, and define and drive technology.

Key job responsibilities

• Solve complex architecture and business problems in an extensible and simplified way
• Define and influence technical strategy and software architecture
• Innovate on and expand our distributed systems
• Apply core software engineering skills daily such as coding in Java, OOO and systems design, and problem solving while utilizing advanced algorithmic and analytical skills
• Partner with science teams working on the models to innovate how to efficiently integrate our systems
• Mentor and grow other developers on the team or across teams

We are an agile team whose solution is the core of all Alexa multi-device experience and has a lot of cross-functional stakeholders.

Our vision is to make Alexa ambient where customers do not need to think about which device they want to Target, but think of all of them as one Alexa.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
