Coach/Mentor for Independent Living Skills Services

Spread Your Wings was established in 2015 in a small one room office in Morgan Hill, California. Since then, we have expanded with more than 10 offices now across California and more plans to expand further.

We are currently seeking motivated individuals, with a real passion for helping others, to join our Independent Living Skills services team in Sacramento, CA.

These services that the coaches provide helps and empowers the individuals to easily access essential resources, build self-confidence, become active members of their community and results in many new opportunities for them and their future.

Under the minimal supervision of the ILS Program Manager, you as a Coach, will manage a caseload of several clients assigned to you by supporting, encouraging, teaching and working with each client individually.

You will be working / meeting with clients in their own homes and / or out in the community to help them achieve their goals based on their individual support plan.

Some examples of what you might assist / support / teach are functional life skills such as : advocacy, basic cooking, how maintain a home, management of medical appointments and / or medications, how to access or utilize local community / government resources and how to access / utilize the local public transportation system.

In this this position, you are given the general liberty to make your own daily and weekly schedules based on understanding the clients monthly hourly needs and by working with the client’s availability and their desired days and times that work best for them.

You will be responsible for taking and documenting daily service / case notes and writing quarterly progress reports for the individuals assigned to you.

90% of your the time will be spent in the field working with clients and the other 10% will be administrative work, such as writing reports, documentation, emails, etc.

As part of this position, you will also be required to attend monthly training meetings at your closest SYW’s branch office and communicate regularly with both your ILS Program Manager and your client’s RC service coordinators.

As part of the position, you must be willing to drive your own vehicle from client-to-client’s homes when working / meeting with them.

The mile radius that you will be required to drive can vary based on the area and where the clients live. Since this position will require you to use your own vehicle and at times transport the client, YOU MUST HAVE- a reliable and safe vehicle, a valid Driver’s license, car insurance, and vehicle registration is current.

The schedule would generally be Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm; but can vary depending on the clients’ availability / needs. This may require but is not limited to, working early mornings, late evenings, or Saturday.

Computer literate and tech-savvy with basic computer skills and intermediate knowledge of using MS Word and Excel. Excellent Communicator in all aspects is a must.

Preferred Education / Experience : High School Diploma or GED. A degree in a related field is desired, although it's not required.

We focus primarily on candidates with a great work ethic, a positive personality that is warm, and inviting. Experience in a related field : ILS, SLS, caretaking, CNA, teaching, coaching, a history of working with children or adults with IDD or other disabilities.

We are willing to train those with minimal experience in this field if your personality appears to be a good fit for the individuals we serve.
