Atlas ESG and Sustainability Specialist

Position Description :
The ESG and Sustainability Specialist will support the companies to evolve and embed Atlas’ ESG program consistently across the group.
Taking guidance and instruction from Atlas’ ESG Council, this position will manage cross-functional projects, execute Atlas’ ESG Program, including day-to-day running of the program, engage with stakeholders, and drive initiatives that align with the company commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.
Job Responsibilities :
- Day to day project coordination with and between various stakeholders and contributors of Atlas’ ESG program
- Coordinate the preparation and publication of Atlas annual sustainability report per leading standards and frameworks, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)
- Socialize Atlas ESG program so that internal and external stakeholders are aware of and familiar with the program and can provide feedback
- Manage the preparation of the materiality assessment to identify priority issues to include in the sustainability report.
- Coordinate annual data collection and conduct analyses of Atlas, Seaspan and APR’s ESG performance
- Implement Atlas ESG data systems, continually seeking ways to improve the comprehensiveness, quality, and collection of data
- Lead the submission of Atlas sustainability and ESG disclosures, including the UN Global Compact Communication on Progress Report (CoP) questionnaire
- Coordinate the preparation of responses to ESG-related customer requests and questionnaires.
- Work with Corporate Communications team to coordinate the development of other sustainability-related materials and disclosures, such as presentations, website content, and social media posts
- Maintain a strong and current knowledge base of sustainability- and ESG-related matters
- Frequently conduct research, such as ESG gap analysis, peer benchmarking of ESG performance, sustainability trends and best practices, and develop and implement strategies to improve Atlas ESG Program (e.g., ESG Scorecard)
- Periodic reporting, updates and presentations relating to the ESG program
- Project management of various initiatives and projects relating to the ESG program
- Evaluate proposals from different service providers and develop Requests for Proposal and business cases to present to the ESG Council for approval
- Management of the ESG Budget. Conduct internal reviews to ensure the program’s annual commitments are within budget
- Develop and maintain the ESG Playbook / Handbook
- Project management of various initiatives and projects relating to the ESG program
- Performs other duties as required
Requirements :
- Sustainability, Engineering, Financial or Business Qualification
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good writing style
- Proficient in Project Management
- 5 years post graduate working experience
Additional Desired Qualifications :
- Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Risk and Strategic orientated mindset
- Project Management Institute (PMI) certification, Six Sigma or other recognized Project Management training and certification
- Experience in ESG and Sustainability Reporting, such as UNSDG’s, GRI, SASB, TCFD etc.

Compensation and Benefits package :
Seaspan’s total compensation is based on our pay-for-performance philosophy that rewards team members who deliver on and demonstrate our high-performance culture.
The hiring range for this position is $73,000 - $87,500 CAD per annum. The exact base salary offered will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, job-related skills and knowledge, and internal pay equity.
In addition to base salary, we offer a competitive total rewards package which includes an annual performance-based bonus, a comprehensive benefits package (extended health, dental, life and disability insurance), retirement savings plan matching and other company-provided rewards.
