Senior Staff Accountant
Beacon Hill Financial has collaborated with a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C. looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join their team.
You will leverage your expertise in accounting and your proficiency in NetSuite to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Your responsibilities will include maintaining the general ledger, preparing financial statements, and providing insightful analysis to support our mission-driven initiatives.

Key Responsibilities :
Financial Management :
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all transactions.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
NetSuite Utilization :
- Administer and manage NetSuite ERP system, ensuring accurate configuration and data integrity.
- Develop and maintain customized reports and dashboards within NetSuite to support financial analysis and decision-making.
- Implement and troubleshoot NetSuite modules and integrations as needed.
- Provide training and support to staff on NetSuite processes and best practices.
Compliance and Reporting :
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and relevant regulations (e.g., GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards).
- Prepare schedules and documentation for annual audits and assist auditors as needed.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with grant requirements and funding restrictions.
Financial Analysis :
- Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare detailed financial analysis and recommendations for management and the board of directors.
- Support grant management by tracking expenses, preparing financial reports, and ensuring adherence to grant terms.
Team Leadership :
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional development.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the finance team.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
