Lead Medical Technologist

Description : Summary : The Lead Medical Technologist must be knowledgeable in the operation of every laboratory section, perform the duties of a Medical Technologist III and assist the supervisor and take charge in the absence of the supervisor in monitoring shift operation in all sections of the laboratory.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Demonstrates knowledge, skills and performs the duties of Medical Technologist II 2.

Coordinates, prioritizes workload and directs workflow in all laboratory sections to include phlebotomy and specimen processing 3.

Makes adjustment to schedule and assignment as necessary 4. Responds to patient / family, patient care services and physician inquiries and complaints with timely resolution 5.

Works in tandem with the Laboratory Supervisor and assumes the supervisor responsibilities in the absence of the supervisor 6.

Orients, trains and mentors new hires, students and completes staff annual competencies 7. Ensures timely communication of new procedures / processes and completion of training and competency assessments 8.

Assigns and evaluates work of Medical technologist I , II , III, LTA and Lead LTA and contributes to their performance appraisalsSkills : leadership, regulatory compliance, Medical laboratory, Clinical laboratory, quality control, instrument maintenance, ascp certified, Chemistry, Hematology, MicrobiologyTop Skills Details : leadership,regulatory compliance,Medical laboratory,Clinical laboratoryAdditional Skills & Qualifications : Required Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution and applicants must be eligible for an appropriate certification examination.

Acceptable certifying agencies include : ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW) OR Associates Degree in laboratory science (Chemical or Biological Science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution and certification as a Medical Technologist.

Acceptable certifying agencies include : ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW) Preferred Qualifications : -Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
