About The Position
Job Title : Sterile Processing Technician - Evenings Job Specialty : Sterile Processing Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Evening, 3 PM - 11 : 30 PM Guaranteed Hours : Not specified Experience : 400 hours of previous sterile processing experience required License : Not specified Certifications : - Certification as a Registered Central Service Technician or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician Must-Have : - Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred - Proficiency in basic computer skills - Ability to retain knowledge about handling surgical instruments, medical supplies, and equipment - Fluency in English for communication with medical staff Job Description : Provide essential services to ensure equipment meets quality and safety standards.
- Follow protocols with a high level of attention to detail.- Receive and process incoming supplies and equipment, including cleaning and sterilizing duties.
- Handle, properly process, and store medical instruments.- Monitor sterilizer equipment for performance, including inspection and documentation.
- Prepare packs of supplies, linens, and instruments as directed.- Collect, receive, clean, disinfect, and decontaminate instruments, supplies, and equipment according to protocols.
- Prioritize workload according to needs.- Operate cleaning and decontaminating machines : washer-decontaminator, cart washer, and ultrasonic cleaner.
- Inspect and assemble surgical instruments and equipment for cleanliness and proper functionality.- Select appropriate sterilization methods and document processes.
- Monitor sterilizers mechanically, biologically, and chemically for quality assurance.- Maintain departmental policies and procedures for safety, quality, and infection control.
- Serve as a resource for new staff and assist in department educational programs.- Distribute supplies and equipment to hospital units timely.
This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
