The Department of Pathology, Section of Anatomic Pathology at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) invites applications for a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor for a full-time faculty position.

We are seeking an anatomic pathology or anatomic / clinical pathology board certified or board eligible individual with subspeciality training and / or experience in medical renal pathology.

The successful candidate will also be able to participate in general surgical pathology service in addition to medical renal pathology as well as be involved in resident and medical student teaching.

The Department promotes active engagement in research endeavors and scholarly activities, offering a strong supportive environment.

The institution offers a generous fringe benefit package and salary will be based upon level of qualification, experience, and scholarly accomplishments.

This position is not considered to be on tenure track.

Responsibilities

Sign out medical kidney biopsies and General Surgical Pathology as per monthly faculty schedule. Frozen section coverage as per the monthly faculty schedule.

Co-scoping with resident and medical student during sign-out. Perform / supervise and sign out adult autopsies on a rotation basis.

Evening, weekend and holiday calls on a rotation basis. Teach medical students / residents (didactic and unknown conference sessions).

Provide renal pathology consultation and present renal pathology at conferences. Scholarly activities and research is highly encouraged.

Required Qualifications

MD / DO or equivalent with AP / CP training and American Board of Pathology Board Certification or board eligible. Subspecialty fellowship training and / or experience in medical renal pathology.

GA State Licensure required. Credentialed to practice at Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center.

Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.

Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be :

  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
