Join us as the Senior Director, Business Development Search, Evaluation and Partnerships, in AstraZeneca’s Vaccines & Immune (V&I) Therapy group.
This role is pivotal in developing strategy, supporting global business development, and public-private partnership initiatives.
You will have a direct impact on the scientific strategy and portfolio. Your ambitious drive, strong scientific R&D and / or clinical background in vaccines, antibodies, and infectious diseases, coupled with interpersonal skills, will be key to your success in this role.
Accountabilities :
You will be responsible for driving search efforts of external innovation and strategic partnering opportunities across academia, governments, non-governmental organizations, biotech, and peer pharma.
You will conduct scientific and strategic evaluation of opportunities and present attractive opportunities to the business effectively and efficiently.
You will also develop the cases for in-licensing and partnership opportunities. For public-private partnership opportunities, you will lead the development of proposals, negotiate, and execute contracts, and resolve disputes.
Essential Skills / Experience :
MD or PhD with 8+ of demonstrated ability.
Extensive deal experience and proven foundation of BD practices and approaches.
Experience in establishing public-private partnerships with governments, non-governmental organizations, and academia.
Experience in alliance management and academic partnerships.
Strong scientific background with knowledge of vaccines, antibodies, drugs and clinical development in infectious diseases and technology platforms enabling vaccine / antibody development and delivery.
Strong analytical skills and ability to ascertain the relevant issues from technical information provided by functional authorities.
Extensive experience in leading multi-functional project teams of senior professionals.
Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills, demonstrating flexibility, consistent record to take care of complexity under time pressure.
Excellent communication and influencing skills across multiple internal and external collaborator groups.
Experience and effectiveness in presentations of cases to the most senior management.
Ability to think critically, creatively and to anticipate and solve problems.
Ability to navigate and be successful in a fast-paced, highly matrixed work environment.
