Summary : Provide observations, screenings, evaluations, and MTSS intervention or IEP services to enhance a student’s level of communicative functioning.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Identify and provide appropriate services for children with communication disorders in the following areas :
- Phonological / articulation disorders
- Language disorders
- Stuttering / dysfluency
- Feeding + Swallowing
- Speech-language disorders resulting from hearing impairment
- Speech-language disorders resulting from organic anomalies
- Speech-language disorders secondary to a variety of diagnoses (ASD, Down Syndrome, ODD, etc.)
- Participate in developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), including measurable
goals and objectives for each student’s needs as applicable to the educational setting.
- Interpret test findings and make appropriate recommendations.
- Establish and maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures.
- Participate in all pre-referral and referral procedures as required by the District.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations and complete progress reports.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with other professionals,
students, parents, and community agencies.
Consult with teachers, parents, and other IEP committee members to ensure that
students’ needs are being met.
- Model professional and ethical conduct at all times.
- Participate in District department meetings of speech-language pathologists for the purpose of coordinating and improving the program and services to students.
Qualifications : Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited educational
Institution (required)
- Illinois Professional Educators licensure with Speech and Language Pathologist endorsement(s) (required)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA (preferred)
- Experience in public schools (preferred)
