JOB TITLE : CNC Machine Operator
REPORTS TO : Production Manager / Plant Manager
FLSA STATUS : Non-Exempt
SHIFT : 2nd Shift : 3 : 00pm - 11 : 30pm with unpaid lunch

SMS is looking to hire a full time CNC operator to join our team on Second Shift.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Setup CNC machine jobs based on drawings, fixtures and tooling from work instructions and setup sheets.
- Troubleshoot CNC machining issues.
- Monitor machine performance and output during production to ensure proper results
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements following manufacturer's instructions and troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Maintain a clean work area by daily cleaning of machines, and regular disposal of savings according to company policies and standards.

Education / Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Computer Skills
Use of computer system to issue material, labor and record quality data.

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions (non-weather); working near moving mechanical parts;

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Person must be able to sit comfortably; possess excellent fine motor skills in areas such as small parts production and assembly;
entering of computer data; and working with paperwork.
- Person is required to frequently reach with hands and arms; walk; climb; stoop; kneel; and push and pull large objects.
- Person must exhibit excellent gross motor dexterity and coordination as they might regularly lift and / or move up to 50lbs;
and at times be able to use force to push / pull over 75 pounds with assistance of casters, and lift equipment provided.
- Person must be able to speak clearly to be heard; as well as hear work related instructions from co-workers, doorbells, lift truck noises and other equipment moving around them.
- Person must be able to adequately perform tasks requiring close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Schedule : Full Time
- 8-hour shift
- Monday to Friday (sometimes weekends)
- Night Shift 3pm-11 : 30pm

Requirements :
2 years of Experience with CNC mills preferred
Know how to use measuring instruments and gauges
Working knowledge of vertical CNC mill
Ability to communicate and work effectively with others
Able to work in a fast pace production shop
Must have excellent mechanical aptitude and experience with metal and plastic machining equipment
