Position : Experienced Security Officer

Location : Arden, NC

Employment Type : Full-time

Shifts : All shifts available

Pay : $17 / hr

Description : Unarmed security position providing fixed and roving patrol security for a client site. Shifts vary.

Responsibilities include :

• Represent and be responsible for his / her shift to the site supervisor
• Security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle
• Understand and fulfill the obligations and responsibilities of all posts
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
• Complete required annual training to maintain a valid state-issued registration card
• Complete the EKG Security Senior Security Officer (SSO) Training Course within 180 days of assignment to the SSO position
• Complete the American Heart Association CPR / AED / BLS certification training
• Complete applicable ESH training
• Complete applicable Safety & Environmental Rules training.
• Maintain daily activity reports on paper, computer, smartphone, or tablet.
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
• Sound alarms or call the police or fire department in case of fire or the presence of unauthorized persons
• Permit authorized persons to enter the property and monitor entrances and exits
• Assist customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
• Completing post-order training and familiarization

Expectations include one or more of the following essential job functions with or without a reasonable accommodation :

• Be able to work overtime and on various shifts as needed; including weekends and holidays. Reasonable accommodation based on religious beliefs or disabilities will be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Be able to maintain accurate records (ability to read and write)
• Effectively comprehend numerous policies, procedures, and concepts to respond Appropriately to various situation
• Communicate effectively with others
• Walk up and down stairs
• Use a computer or tablet with basic competence to include :
• client badge system (develop, issue, and update access cards and software information as required)
• Guard tour system
• Camera monitoring system.
• E-mail program being able to compose and read e-mails.
• Patrolling the client’s facility (length and period to be determined by client)
• Control access to the client facility (foot and vehicle traffic)
• Stand for long periods sometimes over eight hours
• Work outside in a variety of weather conditions depending on the assignment
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times including meeting and greeting visitors entering or departing the client facilities
• Present a great first impression by looking alert, pleasant and helpful
• Strictly adhere to client facility rules and policies to include no tobacco on site and no consumption of food in the Security Command Center

Candidates are required to :

• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Have a valid NC PPS registration card (security guard license)
• Complete site-specific training before serving as a qualified security officer
• Have a driver’s license if driving a company or client-owned vehicle
• Have the ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and / or console monitors
• Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
• Be at least 19 years old
• Have at least one year of security or law enforcement experience
• Be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to work in the United States legally
• Have access to reliable transportation / self-owned that allows for short-notice response
• Be able to work any shift, 24 hours per day, seven days per week
• Participate in training sessions and meetings when scheduled
• Adhere to EKG and client safety policies
• Have a mobile phone
• Have an e-mail address and regularly use it
• Be able to operate a computer (windows) and tablet with basic competency to include human resources and time-entry software / websites, e-mail, and time-entry phone systems
• Be able to effectively read, write, and speak English
• Do not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment)
• Submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
• Be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Security officer positions may require you to perform the following regularly during a shift :

• Lift or carry up to 50 lbs
• Reach over your head with 10-25 lb loads
• Climb stairs with loads up to 50 lbs
• Walk and stand for long periods, climb stairs & ladders
• Type or work at a keyboard or desk

Full-time employees are eligible for health, dental, and vision insurance after 90 days.
