Fleet maintenance Mechanic- Marine Vessel
Your Role :
Have excellent communication skills to facilitate the transfer of information succinctly among all relevant personnel and colleagues.
Develop and guide long range maintenance plans for vessels and submit itemized annual vessel repair and maintenance requests to the Tug & Boat Fleet Maintenance Superintendent.
Be skilled in the use of various small and large hand tools, precision instruments and portable machines as required by the trade.
Be proficient in performing repairs on a wide variety of propulsion marine diesel engines (esp. Detroit, John Deere, Cat, Cummins, Isuzu), and reduction gears (esp.
Twin Disc, ZF, Allison, Cat), fuel systems, pneumatic clutches, shafting, rudders, towing / weight / cargo handling machinery, various machine components and auxiliary machinery, such as electrical power plants, pumps, hydraulics, steering gear etc.
Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and other drawings with average or better ability to solve mathematical problems..
Participate / Assist in bid package evaluations, develop service requisitions related to dock-side and dry-dock events in Enterprise when appointed.
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair to AC and DC electrical systems, electro- hydraulic steering systems, controls and equipment to include practical knowledge of electric principles and electrical safety standards.
Have a basic understanding of accounting principles and excellent computer skills to requisition engineering parts and supplies as required to perform machinery repairs and manage spare parts inventory as related to this job description.
Must become proficient in the use of the "Enterprise" Maintenance and Purchasing Program, CAD and / or Sketchup. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office applications.
Implement and stay current with USCG UTV Sub-chapter M regulations. Enroll in USCG UTV course and be an expert in guiding our efforts toward compliance with upcoming regulations.
Minimum Qualifications :
High School diploma or equivalent PLUS
3+years experience working in the marine transportation industry AND
Direct experience as lead point of contact on maintenance repair of propulsion diesel engines, electrical and hydraulic systems
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience training vessel engineers to enhance their engineering knowledge and abilities.
Commitment to IIF Safety Culture, Leadership from Within and pollution free operations.
Current passport, visa and TWIC etc. as required.
Additional Info :
Location : Houston, Texas with heavy travel up to 4 days per week to project sites
Salary : $75-80k plus benefits package
Pay Details : $65,000.00 to $80,000.00 per year
