Manning Kass has an exciting opportunity for a Law and Motion / Appellate attorney, with at least 3 years of experience, to join our Law and Motion and Appeals Team!

Our Law and Motion and Appeals Team includes experts in matters of appellate litigation, the Supreme Court, and law and motion.

Our Law and Motion and Appeals Team enhances everything our litigators do in other practice areas. From assisting in devising litigation strategy at the inception of a case to developing cogent law-and-motion strategy to maximize the potential of prevailing on dispositive and non-dispositive motions to performing trial support and extraordinary writ back-up, our Law and Motion and Appeals Team is actively involved long before a notice of appeal is ever filed.

Responsibilities

• Draft pretrial motions and oppositions, including pleading-related motions, discovery motions, and dispositive motions.
• Appear at hearings on pre-trial law and motion matters.
• Draft trial motions and assist with preparing trial documents, including motions in limine, trial briefs, pocket briefs, and jury instructions and verdicts.
• Drafting post-trial motions, including motions for new trial and motions for attorney’s fees.
• Opportunity to handle appellate cases and conduct appellate arguments, including learning from the firm's experienced appellate practitioners.
• Conduct legal research and provide recommendations to clients and litigation attorneys on complex legal issues.
• Analyze and assess litigation and appellate strategies.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and current good standing with the California State bar
• General experience with pleading challenges, anti-SLAPP motions, MSJ's, writs & appeals
• 3+ years of civil / general litigation experience.
• 3+ years law & motion experience. Federal experience is a plus!
• Demonstrable experience researching, analyzing, and handling cases.
• Detail-oriented with excellent writing, communication, and case analysis abilities.

• Proficient with the latest trends and best practices in litigation.
