Description

With the Chief Medical Officer, the Associate Chief Medical Officer will manage the provision of patient care to an ethnically and socially diverse patient base to ensure that standards, protocols, clinical leadership, and direction are all in place so that Dimock is providing the highest quality of care possible to its patients.

They will implement operating efficiencies aimed at enhancing patient flow and increasing the number of unique patients served.

This includes assessing and upgrading existing medical care standards, providing management, leadership, and coaching to all medical staff and related staff employed at Dimock, and working with operating and executive team members to implement new operating processes and systems.

They must adapt to a continually evolving environment, be clinically and operations-savvy, and thrive in an autonomous and fast-paced workplace.

Reporting Relationships

The Associate Chief Medical Officer will report to the Chief Medical Officer and have shared responsibilities for the following key direct reports :

  • Clinical Directors, Health Center
  • Medical Director, Addiction Medicine

Responsibilities

The successful Associate Chief Medical Officer candidate will :

  • Promote and model the Dimock Center’s clinical mission to enhance the health and well-being of the community they serve through access to the highest quality health care.
  • Develop and model a clinical philosophy and practice standards for the Dimock Center consistent with its mission; communicate and integrate that philosophy and those standards with management and clinical staff.
  • Provide clinical and strategic leadership necessary to deliver high-value care that is financially sustainable, with a focus on access, quality, and efficiency.
  • Cultivate a medical staff culture that is centered on patient care and enhancing the patient experience.
  • Set and implement key priorities to reduce annual cost, ensure quality outcomes, and meet utilization targets for clinical services.
  • Oversee and drive the Dimock Center’s quality monitoring and program evaluation components.
  • Use key performance indicators / metrics and drive the establishment of a data-driven, transparent, clinical decision-making culture.
  • Promote and enhance medical education to ensure providers are delivering exceptional evidence-based care.
  • Develop a culture of team-based care that nurtures clinical staff well-being and reduces burnout.
  • Establish and support programs to address accreditation needs, and be accountable for ensuring that appropriate federal, state, and local regulatory agencies' requirements are met within the assigned areas of accountability.
  • Measure clinical department leader performance by utilizing feedback from peers, employees, patients, supervisors, and members of other teams to provide mentorship and ensure success of clinical leaders.
  • Promote the Dimock Center’s clinical mission at student, resident, provider, and healthcare-related social events to recruit rising talented health care professionals.

Candidate Qualifications

Education / Certification

  • Advanced medical degree and current board certification in Internal Medicine and board certification in Preventive Medicine, Addiction Medicine.
  • Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Knowledge and Work Experience

A minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership experience managing a clinical department is required. Senior physician leadership role in a Federally Qualified Health Center or other health care organization with exemplary quality, growth, and sustained financial strength is preferred.

Knowledge and understanding of evolving care delivery models that focus on optimizing the patient experience as well as clinical provider performance and satisfaction is essential.

Ambulatory, primary care model, and Addiction Medicine delivery experience is preferred.
