Sr. Compliance Engineer, Datacenter Compliance Operations

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced Compliance Engineer who will be responsible for providing global product compliance analysis and guidance to ensure that all electrical, mechanical and other regulated performance specifications are satisfied in all countries where AWS business exists or will expand.

You will be part of the Datacenter Compliance Operation team within AWS Global Trade and Regulatory Compliance team (GTPC) that collaborates with hardware engineering, product compliance PM / TPM, and legal to implement compliance specifications and policies, builds compliance programs to support AWS Datacenter Engineering and other hardware business initiatives including in-rack power infrastructure, Datacenter operation equipment, etc.

You will develop compliance specification and plan, troubleshoot and resolve compliance issues that arise in the course of AWS’s NPI and other business processes.

GTPC is responsible for ensuring that the infrastructure equipment necessary to support the AWS services are imported / exported in a compliant manner across the multiple countries where AWS operates and will expand, including all product certification / safety regulations.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safety compliance specification and plan for new products and technologies in AWS infrastructure IT equipment
  • Deep dive product compliance standards including, e.g., electrical product safety, EMC, RF, telecommunications, and applicable AHJ standards
  • Create procedures and guidelines to mitigate compliance issues early in the design phase, and ensure that devices meet governmental and industry regulations in international markets.
  • Identify and interpret relevant compliance standards against which to test hardware, based on specific use cases.
  • Be current on any changes to relevant global agency approvals and testing procedures.
  • Develop key metrics to evaluate the product compliance engineering program’s performance, and build implementation plans to confirm our performance and compliance, against program metrics, internal company requirements, and regulations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
  • Bachelor degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent engineering disciplines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
  • Experience with the project management of technical projects
