THE ROLE
Reporting to the Vice President, Patient Care Services / CNO, the Executive Director of In-Patient Nursing provides operational oversight and responsibility for the overall management and leadership of specified clinical units and programs in nursing services.
The Executive Director assists in integrating nursing with ancillary departments, physicians, and support services. As a nurse leader, the Executive Director demonstrates an advanced level of management expertise, and role models proactive, collaborative working relationships across all hospital functions in an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
Age-Related Competencies : Neonate (birth 28 days) (Women's & Children's Services only), Infant (28 days 1 year) (Women's & Children's Services only), Child (1-12 years), Adolescent (13-18 years), Adult (18-64 years), Geriatrics (65 years death) (Excludes Women's & Children's Services).
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of patient's status.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the primary population of patients served in the department.

Leading Ministry :

Ensures decisions, policy and procedures, and daily activities are addressed within the context of our history, values and the ethical and religious directives.

Promotes excellence in patient care delivery consistent with regulatory agencies through annual performance appraisal process and competency based standards and validations.
Leading Operations :
Applies broad knowledge and seasoned experience when addressing complex issues. Defines strategic issues clearly.
Facilitates the development and management of the nursing care delivery process for designated areas of responsibility. Ensures policies, standards of care, and practice are consistent with current nursing research and practice.
Networks and strives for best practices. Creates an environment of continuous improvement.
Develops processes and programs to continually promote, measure, and improve caregiver, physician, and patient satisfaction.
Develops, monitors, and analyzes labor, operating, and capital expense budgets and assures appropriateness of human and material resource allocations.
Develops systems and processes to ensure continuous compliance with California Department of Public Health, Title 22, HFAP, TJC and other state and federal regulatory standards and legal requirements.
Promotes partnerships with physicians and care team to ensure quality outcomes are achieved.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or health related field
Master's Degree (preferred)
Within 6 months (180 days) of hire Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
5 years of leadership experience in hospital setting
Hospital wide leadership experience through committee and task force initiatives
Demonstrated knowledge of nursing leadership
Knows and complies with standards, regulations and laws associated with Title 22, HFAP, the Joint Commission (TJC) and other state and federal agencies
Knows and complies with all relevant Medical Center and departmental policies and procedures
Demonstrated ability to lead people, ministry and operations
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
