Sourcing Manager - Animal Fats - Franklin, TN

The Sourcing Manager - Animal Fats is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies that deliver and ensure supply, maximizing value for money, and improving quality for $150M+ spend in the animal fat category including poultry fat, chicken fat, and beef tallow.

The Sourcing Manager strategically manages the ever-growing presence of renewable energy and alternative uses for animal fats in the feed and fuel space, delivering a long-term strategy to manage supply, quality price and business expectations of risk.

This position will collaborate with other Mars business segments and global category teams and partner with internal stakeholders and suppliers to deliver value and continuous improvement and lowest total cost of ownership.

This position will work onsite at our Franklin, TN facility.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics or related field.
• Baseline negotiation capability skillset and / or previous training.
• Experience managing complex supply chains domestically within the US and Internationality and being able to react to changing market and regulatory conditions that can impact supply.
• Ability to convey communications clearly and concisely.
• Ability to lead without authority while also managing stakeholder engagement, effectively.
• 5+ years’ experience working in sourcing in Agriculture commodities or Green Energy.
• 3+ years’ experience in the renewable feedstock market and / or animal fats and tallow space either in rendering, renewable diesel, or biofuels space.

What will your key responsibilities be?

• Create, deliver, and execute the sourcing strategy for assigned ingredients for Mars Petcare US. Collaborate with all Mars North American units and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver a target value improvement of 5-10% of the total spend.
• Identify short and long terms risks to supply from external factors protecting Mar Petcare from fundamental and foundational change with the fats and tallow landscape.
• Drive an effective and collaborative relationship with key stakeholders to deliver competitive and market advantages through superior analysis, strategy, judgment, and execution.
• Ensure delivery of business plans at or ahead of targets and engages as the appropriate Commercial representative in internal business processes.
• Deliver market trend and market development information to drive business understanding of how to best utilize the capabilities of suppliers and industry developments to deliver a competitive advantage to Mars Petcare.

This includes leading creation and implementation of strategic supplier initiatives to deliver sustained competitive advantage.

Identify and implement novel and creative means for reducing costs, improving quality, or otherwise improving total value for money.

This includes networking within the Mars Global Commercial community for best practices & ideas for reapplication.

Drive in-depth portfolio analysis to clearly identify areas of routine spend and implement tools such as e-auctions, RFPs, etc.

to drive efficiency in the animal fats and tallow category.

Drive and manage Supplier Relationship Management initiatives.
