About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse - Staff Float Pool Job Specialty : MedSurg Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 7 : 00 pm, 12-hour Nights - 36 / 48 Guaranteed Hours : 36 / 48 Experience : At least 18 months experience in MedSurg with EPIC or Cerner experience.
First-time travelers are welcome. License : Registered Nurse License Certifications : BLS, NIHSS Must-Have : Trauma / surgical experience, EPIC or Cerner experience, telemetry experience (preferred), and a range of MedSurg skills.
Job Description : Operate in a Level II Trauma Center and Level III NICU environment.- Work in a range of units such as : - 6 North Trauma Surgical - 5 South Neuroscience - 5 North MedSurg / Oncology - 4 South Clinical Decision Unit - 3 South Orthopedics - 3 North MS / Ortho / Urology - Provide care for various patient types including General Surgery, Vascular, Neuroscience, Oncology, Orthopedic, and more.
- Participate in maintaining patient ratios typically 1 : 5-6. - Required skills include : - Wound care - Chest tubes - IV skills - Medication administration / documentation - Trach care - PEG, NGT care - Colostomy / Ostomy management - Foley care - PCA pumps - Telemetry monitoring and interpretation - Support on the unit includes CNAs, a receptionist / HUC, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, and an IV / VAT team.
- Floating to similar units may be necessary. - Orientation consists of classroom and unit time for new facilities or those who have been away for 1+ years.
- Scheduling includes weekend rotations every other or 4 weekend days per month and holiday expectations require serving during one major and one minor seasonal holiday.
