Staff Data Scientist, Growth
About the Role
Have you got what it takes to succeed The following information should be read carefully by all candidates.
Data Scientists are the people who bring excellence from empirical and computer science to life to drive the iterative product development lifecycle.
They embed within teams they support, achieving a marriage of minds with their stakeholders and an integration of objectives and workflows.
They work across the team with UX researchers, feature engineers, domain experts, and business, product, and marketing managers to create data about user behaviors, discover unmet needs, set metrics that measure performance, and design & execute experiments to generate learnings and evidence their success (or lack thereof).
Where needed, they leverage machine learning methods as the basis of even deeper insights, uncovering patterns in user behavior that the human mind simply cannot process (e.
g., through unsupervised learning).
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Staff Data Scientist to drive growth across the entire customer lifecycle. You will bridge the gap between data and business teams, providing insights to fuel acquisition, optimize activation, and drive resurrection strategies.
You'll collaborate closely with product and marketing, utilizing your expertise in data analysis, experimentation, and machine learning to unlock growth opportunities.
What you’ll do in 12 months
Acquisition Funnel Mastery : Be the third-party arbiter of funnel performance facts and gaps in acquisition performance.
Decompose funnel touch points and define metric frameworks to measure performance of the funnel. Develop interactive visualizations that enable self-service insights, so the growth teams always know how the funnel and their strategies are performing.
Success will be measured in the depth of understanding, and minutes it takes, for the team to learn what initiatives are moving the success metrics of the funnel and its drivers.
Optimize eater acquisition journeys for every type of eater from every acquisition channel : Produce insights, make recommendations, and run experiments as needed to optimize the acquisition journey for different segments of customers from different channels.
Leverage pLTV modeling to make recommendations for how to adapt the acquisition journey to make controlled improvements to LTV.
Success will be measured through regular and sustained improvements to conversion rates from landing to trials.
Drive data creation to maximize observability of the eater acquisition funnel : Lead efforts to maximize data observability across the acquisition journey through event tracking and instrumentation.
Collaborate with engineers and channel managers to ensure data quality and interoperability from off-platform content to on-platform order conversion.
Success will be measured by the complete observability of all events across the funnel and ownership of the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of the data by the funnel engineers.
Accelerate learning about what drives orders and retention and what doesn’t : Produce insights about engagement of active subscribers and recommend effective strategies to increase retention and order rates across the customer lifecycle stages.
Collaborate with the CRM team to design and evaluate new tests and customer journeys. Success will be measured by the learning rate of the team (e.
g., number of tested new strategies per month) and improvements to order rate and retention.
Accelerate learnings about how to resurrect churned subscribers : Deconstruct resurrection funnel touch points and communications and deliver insights that power our scaling resurrection programme into paid channels.
Build incrementality models, and design & analyze resurrection experiments across landing pages and CRM channels as needed to optimize re-activation journeys.
Use interactive visualizations and produce engaging insight presentations to build understanding of your insights and support for your recommendations.
Success will be measured through revenue through resurrected eaters and the resurrection CAC for paid channels.
