Position Summary : Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor or his / her designee, the Clinical Social Worker provides behaviorally focused services.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Essential Duties :

1. Provides in-home, in-school, in-community behavioral management training and interventions to emotionally disturbed children in foster care.

2. Contact, at a minimum one time bi-weekly in the home, with foster children and resource families. Weekly visits should be completed during times of crisis or elevated need.

3. Document and communicate case needs to the assigned County Social Worker and participate / facilitate treatment meetings, as needed.

4. Assist in the placement of foster children.

5. Provide individual, group, and family counseling, as needed.

6. Complete mandatory documentation and reports in an accurate and timely manner.

7. Supervise resource families and resource homes to monitor compliance with state regulations and accreditation standards.

8. Maintain foster child files, including the needs and services plan and other required paperwork according to state regulations and accreditation standards.

9. Participate in the recruitment, evaluation, orientation, certification, recertification and training of resource homes.

10. Provide Crisis Intervention services to foster children, biological families, and resource families, as needed.

11. Participate in discharge planning decisions.

12. Coordinate services to support placement, including liaison with county, therapeutic services, educational needs, family contacts, and other such activities.

13. Access foster child and resource family’s needs for each placement.

14. Transport foster children to appointments as needed from resource home.

15. Supervise visits between foster children and birth family members, and provide written notes of the visitations.

16. Remain available by cellular phone during business hours to assist with emergency and / or urgent situations.

17. Participate in the Weekly On-Call Rotation schedule.

Agency Duties :

• Assist in planning of and participate in resource family and other agency activities
• Conduct Worker of the Day responsibilities.
• Facilitate team approach and assist other staff in program / agency as needed.
• Provide assistance and perform tasks related to program activities, including and not limited to compliance, resource parent training, special events, newsletters, and resource family development.
• Participates actively in all required staff meetings, in-staff trainings and supervision.
• Assist yearly in Resource Parent University planning.
• Supervise paraprofessional staff and interns, if requested.
• Participate in recruitment of new potential resource families for the agency.
• Maintains all current licensing and / or professional certification requirements.
• Abides by all provisions of the Aldea Policies and Procedures Manual.
• Willing to perform other related duties needed as assigned.

Reporting Relationship :

Clinical Supervisor.

Subordinate Staff (providing direct supervision) :

None.

Position Requirements

Qualifications :

• Knowledge of foster care and child welfare system.
• A candidate may have a Master’s degree from an accredited or state approved graduate school in social work or social welfare, marriage, family and child counseling, child psychology, child development, counseling psychology or social psychology. MSW preferred.
• At least three semester units or 100 days of field practice or experience in a public or private social service agency setting at the Master’s Degree level.
• At least nine semester units of coursework related to children and families or eighteen months experience working with children and families.
• At least three semester units in working with minority populations; six months of experience in working with minority populations;

or six months in-service training in working with minority populations, within the first year of employment, as a condition of employment.

• At least three semester units in child welfare, or two years experience in a public or private child welfare social service setting preferred.
• A current California license to practice psychotherapy (LCSW, MFT, or PhD) or registration as a pre-licensed intern or currently attending a fully accredited counseling, psychology or social work Masters program.
• Strong oral and written English language skills essential. Bilingual skills preferred.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team, to handle pressure and to maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Interest in working with private, nonprofit community-based programs.
• Ability to comply with all administrative requirements.
• Ability to identify areas needing improvement and to take initiative to suggest viable alternatives.
• A helpful, friendly demeanor.
• A strong background in mental health service delivery and a willingness to work with clients of all ages, backgrounds and orientations.
• Must have an understanding of and be sensitive and responsive to serving culturally diverse populations.
• Ability to work harmoniously with others.
• Ability to accept and follow instructions.

Equipment Knowledge :

Ability to operate basic office machines and equipment, such as telephone, calculator, photocopier, facsimile.

Travel :

Regular local travel and occasional travel up to 100 mile radius.

Physical Requirements :

• Standing and sitting intermittently throughout the 8-hour shift.
• Repetitive finger movements, regular computer keyboard use.
• Limited bending and stooping.

LIFTING : Average Weight : 10 lbs. Frequency : Daily

Pay : Bachelor level $70,720 per year; Master level $73,000 per year
