WORK OBJECTIVE :

This is an advanced technical position responsible for high level technical resolutions and administrative maintenance. The candidate must be a subject matter expert with hands-on experience in :

  • Windows Server operating systems
  • Active Directory
  • Virtualization
  • Email Technologies
  • SANs
  • Backup software.

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware, operating systems, and applications in support of business requirements.

Provides technical support during critical and non-critical business hours. Proactively identifies and automates the resolution to availability and performance issues throughout the environment.

This role holds the responsibility of managing a diverse datacenter environment which includes both planning and implementing critical projects in support of a wide range of complex applications.

This includes upgrades, maintenance and migrations and proactive monitoring of 24x7 mission critical systems.

This position requires a high level of independent judgment, technical skill, organization and planning. Must possess a core set of troubleshooting skills and technical knowledge that can yield timely results and successfully multi-task several assignments without loss of quality.

A strong focus on documentation is essential to success at this position. Experience with an enterprise ticketing system and ticketing concepts is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

  • Design (Architect), Deploy, and Maintain all Data Center technologies across its lifecycle.
  • VMware, Storage Area networks (SANs), Backup and Replication technologies, Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory, SIEM, Email and Endpoint Security, Web Security Gateways, Load Balancers, Virtual Networks, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Systems Center Suite (SCOM, SCCM), AWS, Azure, Disaster Recovery, etc
  • Able to absorb large amounts of information, analyze it for key factors, and provide clear, easily implementable recommendations
  • Help define and device the right IT strategy and approach that will support the business plans and goals. Thorough knowledge of systems analysis, statistics, and formal principles of reasoning.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of state-of-the-art automated hardware, software, and communications technologies and trends.
  • Knowledge of server / storage infrastructure, including IT best practices, industry standards, and market trends
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, methodologies and techniques utilized to effectively manage and motivate a diverse workforce
  • Skill in adapting to a changing work environment, competing demands and ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
  • Skill with the research, analysis, and resolution of computer hardware and software problems
  • Skill in relaying technical communications issues clearly, both orally and in writing, to non-technical individuals
  • Skill in communicating with management regarding new hardware and software products being installed on current systems and evaluating the need for future upgrades on existing equipment and software
  • Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively present information and technical advice to top management and / or all relevant constituents / parties / individuals
  • Ability to correctly interpret and efficiently implement all applicable policies and procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities to ensure that deadlines are met and to set priorities that move projects through efficiently to achieve customer and quality objectives
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to arrive at solutions and suggest improvements to processes

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Assesses and maintains server infrastructure reliability and implementation
  • Manages projects and support activities for server maintenance
  • Coordinates, plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of junior staff
  • Recommends approval for hiring and staff evaluations
  • Maintains user accounts for a variety of platforms used throughout the organization
  • Performs regular auditing and reporting activities of server maintenance
  • Participates in vendor acquisition and manages products and relationships
  • Identify, design, and implement network technologies and methodologies to meet the future needs of the enterprise, including core, distribution, and access layers.
  • Respond to security events both independently and as part of an Incident Management Team.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting.
  • Participate in hardware and software reviews and recommend purchases.
  • Analyze and make recommendations for hardware and software standardization.
  • Provides complex technical support during critical and non-critical business hours on server hardware, operating systems, and software.

Is proactive and reactive for problem alerting, analysis, resolution, and follow up to ensure platform stability.

  • Deploys and configuring complex server operating systems and applications in physical, virtual, and containerized compute environments to corporate and vendor standards.
  • Performs complex application and storage system upgrades (hardware / software) as well as scheduled health checks in accordance with established corporate policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining storage, replication and backups for all systems and ensuring data integrity.
  • Responsible for all technical reference documentation to be used in support and training of Information Technology (IT) personnel.
  • Defines, assigns, and supervises work in development of new or revised server deployments and projects, and supervises as required to achieve desired results within established time frames.
  • Coordinates all work efforts, testing, problem resolution and application activities of assigned area of responsibility with project staff and other CTD groups on a daily basis as necessary.
  • Provides status reports of current and planned work efforts as required.
  • Actively participates in design, planning, and development of the installation and relocation of server-related hardware and software.
  • Contributes in the strategic planning to help automate activities of the organization.
  • Performs systems analysis and design of complex computer networks in order to implement server hardware and software, as well as peripheral devices.
  • Compiles, reviews, and maintains documentation of equipment inventory and licensing.
  • Provides comparative costs for hardware and software of assigned projects.
  • Participates in the preparation and submission of yearly budgets.
  • Maintains diagrams of data centers and all hardware housed within them.
  • Complete / participate in completion of annual performance evaluations of assigned staff.
  • Interfaces with other Project Leaders as necessary on all server-related tasks.
  • Helps develop security measures for operating system and hardware equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Associate’s degree in information technology, or an equivalent combination of education, preferred certifications, training, and / or experience.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Infrastructure / Systems administration in the field of server technologies which include :
  • Strong technical background and experience in structured analysis, Microsoft technologies, and Enterprise server-based environments mandatory
  • Design and support of systems within an enterprise environment

Technology or Software :

  • Advanced administration of Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems
  • Advanced administration of Active Directory
  • Advanced experience with NetApp SANs or similar enterprise storage technologies
  • Advanced administration of VMWare infrastructure
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Exchange Servers
  • Advanced experience with Veeam or similar enterprise backup and replication technologies
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Systems Center Suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Master’s degree in information science and at least two (2) years of working as a lead role in a server technologies group.
  • PMP, Microsoft Certified : MCSE : Core Infrastructure, VMware Certified : VCP / VCAP
  • Microsoft, VMware, Veeam, or equivalent combination of certifications

  • Advanced administration of Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway
  • Advanced administration of McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator
  • Advanced administration of VMware Carbon Black Solutions
